Review summary

For our first cruise we chose the right voyage for our family. Jax Port is pretty easily accessible and we found our way around nicely. Besides two minor incidents with staff, we couldn't be happier with the entire experience! We look forward to future cruises. Steven and Pamela Mirabella and family

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Excellent. This was our first cruise and we were apprehensive about the process, but it ran smoothly and we felt comfortable at Jax Port.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
TEN STARS IS POSSIBLE - The wait staff was impeccable! We cannot say enough about the delectable food and outstanding service! Our server was new and still was amazing!

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
The Elation is scheduled for an upgrade and the pools and outdoor areas need them. The pool area was very small for the 2700 on ship. Not enough adult space. Not enough other recreational areas.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows were excellent and the comedians were outstanding! The magician at dinner was highly anticipated each and every night. He was great!

Children's Programs

Our children didn't participate.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This one is hard to rate! I hate to allow two incidents with just two Carnival employees to outweigh the tremendous service of every one else on board. TEN STARS for the nearly every single Carnival ship personnel that we came in contact with! The good: From the room stewards to the waiters and all ship personnel in between made us feel like royalty! This was our first cruise and we were amazed how they could keep up with such tremendous dispositions even though there was little time between the ship's voyages. We were so impressed we look forward to our next cruise in the very near future! The bad: The young lady at the information desk was so rude and unhelpful on two separate occasions that I believe she may have chosen the wrong occupation. Guest services are just that...services for the guests. If she doesn't feel comfortable working with the public and giving good customer service, maybe a job behind the scenes and more fitting for her. The other issue: When were boarding the ship at Nassau, our kids hurried ahead of us and were allowed on the first entrance. We rushed on up and were informed we had to board the second. I said my children had boarded there and wanted to make sure, being their first cruise, that they got through security fine and were safely onboard, and I was denied that opportunity. I believe the gentleman could've been more understanding of the situation.

Ship Quality

Older ship and close to getting upgraded.

Cabin / Stateroom

Older but very clean and Dennis did an impeccable job!

Ports of call

Jacksonville, Florida

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

We didn't even get to visit this port and it was the main reason we chose this particular cruise :(. Very disappointed!

Nassau, Bahamas

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Disembarkation was a fiasco. We are herded to one end of the ship and they do not take in account for families that stay on different floors! So my children were sent out at different times and were stuck at customs waiting on their birth certificates that we had on floor six. This needs work!
