Review summary

A great cruise for spring breakers. The interaction with staff was very disappointing and not how I was hoping our group, many of which were first time cruisers, expected to be treated.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Arrived there before our scheduled time and still made it through in a reasonable time. About 30 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Very few specialty restaurants due to size and age of ship but the food was very good. Presentation could be better. My other issue is that the drink package only works on the ship. While I understand Nassau, the fact that you use your ship card to pay for drinks on Princess Cays which is Carnivals private island yet they can’t use the cheers package is very frustrating.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The pools and gyms are nice yet a little small. The mini golf course is very nice. The neon bar where they do song requests on a piano, the nightclub and the karaoke club were all lots of fun.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The DJs were good. The comedian was very average especially his adult only show.

Children's Programs

No children in our party.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
While a lot of our staff such as the stewards and servers were fantastic, what ruined this for me was our interaction with some of the bartenders and casino staff. They consistently harassed one member of our party because he spilled a drink he was unaware of on top of a machine in the casino. The staff used vulgar language and told our friend they had him on camera even though they did not. They event went so far as to tell him that they were very close to calling the Bahamian police when we were in Nassau and were still thinking of calling Jacksonville police department. These threats and comments were extremely unprofessional and made my friend not want to leave their room for the remainder of the cruise.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship is definitely showing it’s age but is is still cozy and quaint.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The stateroom was a decent size. The bed for the two of us was very comfortable and our steward did a fantastic job keeping the place clean.

Ship tip

While you would not think it, the deck surrounding the water slides are probably the best place to relax. It is not cramped like the adult only area right below and the noise isn’t much worse.

Ports of call

Jacksonville, Florida Did not visit port

This is the embarkation and debarkation port and therefore do not think it counts.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
We did an excursion to the private island of Balmoral where we swam with wild pigs. It was a lot of fun and something unique for a good price.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Beautiful island. We were on the right side of the beach where most of the spring breakers were. There was lots of seating, a bar and buffet extremely close, and lots of activities such as sand volleyball, limbo, tug of war, etc. This area was much more secluded because it’s not as well advertised as to how to get to it when you disembark m, so most of the ships passengers go to the left side of the beach where it’s starts to feel like an overcrowded Panama City but with nicer water.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
The crew would flip when we could get off the ship based on deck level which was annoying but the overall experience from walking off the ship and making it through customs was very easy.
