After losing my mom, Christmas just isn't the same any more. So my daughter & I wanted to get away & do something different. Due to the weather, it put a damper on a lot of the cruise. I was sick most of the cruise due to the rocking of the ship. We dealt with some not so pleasant workers, unpleasant smells, missed a day at princess cay & a delayed disembarkment due to the weather. Although I know the weather part is out of our control, nonetheless the other factors just added to another so great cruise experience. We were so excited to go, but left feeling underwhelmed.
Embarkation

The people on the ramp leading up to the ship were super nice. But once on the ship, the people near the elevators were not as friendly. They didn't greet us in a friendly manner, but yelled to us to get on the elevator cause it was lunch time. We tried to overlook it cause we were here to have a good time.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

All the staff were great! We had a great experience with everyone. The food in the main dining room was great, as well as guy's burgers & the cantina. Breakfast & lunch was good at the buffet, but dinner was not always the greatest. The 5 stars are definitely for the staff!
Onboard Activities

Did not get a chance to enjoy the pool with my daughter. There were an overflow of kids in both hot tubs. They were rough housing in the pool, putting a mouthful of pool water in their mouth & spitting it out at each other. They were running around the deck splashing those closest to the pool. Was able to enjoy the fitness center because there were no children there & someone to supervise the area. My daughter & I did also enjoy the miniature golf on the upper deck. We played bingo which was fun except for when my daughter stood in line to pay for our cards. There were 4 adults in front of my daughter inline who were able to purchase their cards. But when my daughter got to the front on the line Ali told her to go back to her seat & that they would come around to her. As I'm watching, I'm noticing that they are allowing other people to purchase cards who are not sitting in their seats. We also played trivia with Kayvon. He was very rude & obnoxious. He argued with me over an answer that I gave that he did not understand cause he's not from the us, & basically told me that he's running the game & what he says goes. Even though the audience tried to explain to him that the answer was correct. Any time I would call out an answer, I felt like he would ignore my responses. He did that a few times with a few passengers when he didn't agree with them.
Entertainment

Definitely enjoyed all the shows & performances! By far the best part of our cruise.
Children's Programs
My daughter did not want to go after seeing all the rowdy kids at the pool. So we just hung out together.
Service and Staff

The waiters were wonderful! Always had a smile on their face & eager to assist. Room steward (Ian) was wonderful! He greeted us by name on the very first day, made sure we had fresh towels & it was great to see a different towel animal when we returned to our room at the end of the day! Alex (cruise director) was delightful! He's pretty funny & always looks like he enjoys his job. He spoke to us no matter where he saw us on the ship. Kelsey (shopping) was also great! She helped us get great bargains on jewelry in the Bahamas. She always smiled, spoke to us & hugged us every time she saw us on the ship. Joel & the 2 other members of the fun squad who did trivia with us at the day we couldn't dock due to fog were amazing. Sorry I don't remember their names, but they were super funny & kept us entertained with the trivia & numerous stories! It made not being able to deembark not so bad.
Ship Quality

Common area bathrooms were out of tissue a lot of times. First time on a carnival cruise. Areas were pretty clean with the exception of people just putting their dirty dishes all around the ship. I do realize that is not the fault of the staff. After eating at the buffet on deck 10 & entering the inside of the ship between deck 9 & 10, there was a sewage smell. It was like a busted pipe or something that would make you feel nauseous. That smell occurred at least 3 out of the 5 days of or cruise. The cabin was kinda small, but was very clean.
Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin was kinda small, but was clean. I did bring an air freshener to leave in the room to mask the smell of ocean water radiating from the toilet. We really only used it to sleep & the end of the day.
Ship tip
Eat at non peak times & you won't have to wait that long in line.
Nassau was ok, even though we had some bad experiences with some rude merchants. We did buy a lot of jewelry & souvenirs. We went back to the ship pretty early since it was raining on & off while at that port. Did not enjoy the island at all.
There were no issues, it just took a long time to disembark. There was a lot of waiting around for your deck to be called. It would have been nice if there was some type of band or music to entertain us while we waited.
