Review summary

As I said before, the ship is older and the smell of sewage is strong. But besides that, we had a GREAT time on board because that is just US!! Cam is fun and entertaining. There is plenty to do on the ship. Your five days will just fly by😢 I hate saying this but I would NOT cruise The Ecstasy again.

Embarkation

The workers at the port were a bit cranky, just retire already.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Love the bacon! But the food in the MDR needs to be improved.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The pumpkin carving was fun. The Halloween party was fun also.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The music was always good. Cam, the Cruise Director, was beyond entertaining and friendly! Loved him! The steel drum player was very good as well. He made it so relaxing by the pool.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Very hard workers and so friendly. Antonius was our cabin steward. He took very good care of us.

Ship Quality

She’s an older ship. She was recently dry docked for upgrades and repairs. They added that sushi restaurant and never once did I see anyone getting food from there. It’s on the ninth floor, in a corner, near the SMOKEY casino. Personally, that upgrade looked like a waste of an upgrade. Now as for the SMELL OF SEWAGE....that is the MAJOR work that ship needs. There is no masking it or spraying it. From the moment you board, it hits you hard. Also the plumbing in the room needs to get work done. Our sink kept filling up and going down slow. And the water was brown. Be sure to bring good hair conditioner and body soap. The water is very hard on you.

Cabin / Stateroom

It needs some upgrades. Room E200. The light switch in the mirror was broken. The rooms need to be freshened up and brightened up a bit. We had an interior room. The plumbing in the sink was slow and the water was not clear. There was a brown tint to it. Oh, and the walls will NOT hold up magnets. Just the molding will and those are in areas you will not want magnets up. My in-laws had the extended balcony, room E259. Their air conditioner was not good. The room was warm. Even though they kept the curtains and doors closed, the ac was not blowing cold air.

Ship tip

It’s an older ship, it has a smell of sewage throughout the ship, it does need upgrading. If you need to go to guest services, be ready for the wait. They either have one or two people working it. Even during their busiest times. But on a good note, the employees are kind and hard workers.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
You walk right off the ship and into the ‘paparazzi’ again. Walk down further and you will get better photo ops. You walk through a small building and then the little souvenir shops outside. After you get thru the gates, you will have men there trying to get you in their taxis or off to an excursion. Be careful! Go out further to the stores, restaurants, bars, straw market and senior frogs. And watch when you are crossing. Cars are everywhere and in all directions.

Jacksonville, Florida

5 out of 5
Use the Parking Mall across the street. It is half the price($55 online), they shuttle you to and from the port, your car will be safe and the young men are nice and friendly. Have some tip money ready for them because they are good. As for the port, there’s not much to see or do there. Your just there to get on the ship. Traffic is not so bad either.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Quick and easy. Get on the tender and it takes you to and from the ship. Less than a five minute ride. Just be ready for the ‘paparazzi’. The photographers are there the moment you get off the ship. They just set up in the most busiest areas where people are trying to walk and get around.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
It’s all smooth if you have your things together and paper work ready in hand. If you have liquor or pictures to pick up on the last day, that will take longer for you to disembark. Also, if you have your suitcase picked up, you then have to deal with that search and line.

Shame about the smell

Porkchop94    5 years ago

Went on her labor day and never did smell the sewage. Sad that they put the sushi by the casino. The casino smoke keeps me away. And I love sushi 🍥. We had a great time on her despite being chased by hurricane Dorian. We've booked another cruise on the Ecstasy this January 😊
