We had a good time. Only complaint really was the food. Will not cruise Carnival again. Others are just better.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Food was horrible. Only thing good was the cantina and the deli. Do not pay $20 for upgraded food. Not worth it.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pool is tiny. Only time you can comfortably get in is dinner time. Hot tubs are filled with teens all day and night.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Overall pretty good. Comedy shows were good. Get there early or you won’t be able to see much.

Children's Programs

Kids are over 18

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Overall good. Didn’t eat in the dining room but once. Food wasn’t good so we did not return. Cabin Steward was nice

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
It was clean but very dated. Didn’t mind it too bad.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
No issues

Ship tip

Go on Royal Caribbean. Save your money.

Ports of call

Jacksonville, Florida

4 out of 5
Seemed well organized.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
Water taxis were good. Food was ok at the BBQ. If you go to Princess Cay go to the right. Much nicer there

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Had a good time doing our own thing. 3rd time in Nassau

Disembarkation

JT1962, ironically enough, Ecstasy was our first cruise and we LOVED the food! Victory was our second, and the food was good, but the service was terrible. I think that can affect how a lot of people remember the food because when I think back to Ecstasy and how amazing our service crew was, it puts the entire dining event into this awed sort of light. We actually ended up skipping the dining room the last half of the cruise on Victory because the service was so bad the first 2 nights. Guy's Burgers and Blue Iguana were the saving grace and the buffet was pretty great too. Bottom line is: we're not ready to give up on Carnival yet. Looking forward to Valor and hoping it's more like our experience with Ecstasy.

It’s interesting to see the different opinions of the food between new cruisers and those who have been on several cruises. I have noticed a trend with recent reviews that new cruisers give 4-5 stars for the food selections and quality while those who have cruised before rate the food very low. Is the food and selection actually getting worse or as repeat cruisers are we just remembering things better than they really were or are we over the awe and wonder of our first cruise?

$20 for “upgraded” food? Never heard of such a thing😊

We've been on 6 cruises with Carnival and 5 different ships and the Ecstasy was our least favorite and mostly because of the food. No complaints ever before but on this ship not very goo even prime rib on elegant night wasnt good. Selection and quality at the buffet wasnt great either compared to other ships.
