This was my first cruise and I was so disappointed that I would not recommend Carnival to my family or friends.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
The embarkation process would have been better if we could have had assistance with our bags.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was good in the different restaurants located on the ship.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
The Ecstacy does not have a climbing wall or a fitness center. The pool is very small for 2,000 people with no swimming and standing room only. There are two hot tubs located on the ship, around the pool deck, that stayed occupied with kids the entire time.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Decent shows but the the room where they were held was small and some people had to stand to watch them.
Children's Programs
My kids were 16 and 19
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Room stewards and waiters were phenomenal. The photographer's around the ship took your picture every time you turned around. They even took your picture while you were trying to eat dinner. It's terribly annoying when you are trying to relax and enjoy yourself.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Definitely an older ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Clean room...
Sliding curtain did not work so we could see our the window. Maintenance came to the room twice and advised that the curtain was repaired but each time we could not open it so I just removed it from the window.
Light buld out in the bathroom
Ship tip
If you are celebrating a birthday do not purchase a cake from Carnival. We paid around $100 for a birthday and they asked for the name, which did not appear on the cake. There were 5 travelers in our family and I had 2 rooms. We only recieved utensils for two. We asked for the additional 3 utensils from the room stuart around 1:30, called the front desk 3 times throughout the afternoon and I even made a trip requesting the additional plates and silverware which finally arrived around 11:30pm that night. Once they arrived, the cake was warm and it was a waste if $100.00.
Accommodations were great
T
My wife was injured on the lazy river when the person behind her started kicking rafts around him in a panicked because the water started speeding up.
Btw, Atlantis does not have any wheelchairs for injured guests.
If you need wheelchair assistance do not travel on this ship. My wife injured her foot at the water part in Atlantis and the staff would not assist us with a wheelchair to get her off the ship. We had to walk from our room to the waiting area and then walk/stand in line to exit the ship. The walk was such a long distance that her foot was almost black when we finally arrived at our vehicle. It was horrible and the staff could have cared less.
Sounds like you did not research. You picked the oldest (and cheapest) ship in the fleet then complained about only one pool and no rock climbing? I an sailing this ship in a few weeks and am glad to read your other feedback (shows were good, food was fine, etc...) but will ignore the complaining.
And you should have checked your bags curbside before entering the terminal. That service is available up until 2pm. Wheelchair assistance is offered during Debark. You may have had to wait for one but it is available.
