Review summary

Highly recommend this cruise and the Ecstasy ship!  Loved the easy on and off at the Charleston, SC terminal, delicious cuisine in the Wind Song dining room and the entertainment aboard in the Blue Sapphire lounge.  Also, best Cruise Director, Benjamin, ever on any of the 8 cruises (various cruise lines) that I've been on!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Excellent food in the Wind Song dining room! Also great food and selection on the Lido deck.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Lots of talent shown in the Blue Sapphire lounge with singing and dancing. Really enjoyed the shows! Piano bar with Gilbert was lots of fun, too! Would love to have seen more line dancing and zumba classes!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Loved the shows and content in Blue Sapphire. The trivia by cruise director, Benjamin, also lots of fun! Prizes should be upgraded, though. Too many plastic medallions and ship souvenirs!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Wind Song dining room - Bosco, Wayan and Lauren took excellent care of us! Extremely friendly, accommodating and professional. Lauren, however, should be informed of body odor, which could be hygiene related or an indication of a medical condition. Harry, our cabin steward was very friendly but our cabin sink was not cleaned thoroughly when we boarded this ship.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Needs updating but clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Light over the desk kept going out, like a shortage in the switch.

Ship tip

Smooth sailing on this ship. No need for dramamine! Do not purchase the "Bottomless bubbles" card for $30+. No fountain sodas on the ship. You can carry on a 12-pack of canned sodas ($4) that will last the 5 days of the cruise. Very disappointed in being ripped off with this drink card purchase!

Gotta agree about Benjamin. We were on the October cruise on The Ecstasy that got both diverted (from Nassau, Freeport, and Half Moon Cay to Cozumel) AND extended (from 6 days to 8 days) because of Hurricane Matthew. Ben did a great job keeping our spirits up and coming up with activities to keep us busy for the extra 2 days at sea. I suspect this young man will go far with Carnival.
