Review summary

The Dream was my first Carnival experience after sailing on Royal Caribbean four times previously. I’ve never had a bad cruise on Royal and I was pleasantly surprised how similar the two lines are. My only complaint was very minor. I was slightly disappointed in the offerings on the Lido buffet and I didn’t enjoy the layout as much as the Royal’s Windjammer. All other things were either equal or better than Royal in my opinion. Carnival really hooked me because I decided to book another cruise on the Breeze shortly after returning home.

The question about Carnival being a party boat definitely came to mind when we contemplating booking the Dream. We are in a stage of our lives where we are cruising with a small child. All of our other cruises were done as a childless couple with a leaning towards relaxation. Our little one loved the all the action like dancing in the dining room, kids club activities, and the general attitude of the staff - they went out of their way to interact with him and he made tons of friends. We didn’t witness out-of-control drunkenness or lewd behavior and we were pleasantly surprised at how many people really dressed up for dinner and took formal night seriously. Stick to seven day cruises on Carnival or Royal and you will likely be happy with your cruise.

We're taking our kids on Dream next fall. Was the same price for the 4 of us, on dream, as it is for my husband and I on Liberty... Glad to hear its pretty comparable, since we're RC ppl... Been told Carnival ships are giant party boats.... Any opinion on that?
