The Dream is a beautiful ship. The staff and service was great. For us, it hold too many passengers. Getting on and off was a nightmare for us. Our next cruise will be on a smaller ship with about half the number of passengers.
Embarkation

The line was horrendous. We stood in line outside for 2 hours on a chilly, windy day on concrete. Then we had to go through a long windy line to get checked in. Once we got to the check in, the service was fast. Then another long line to board. If I had known I was going to have all these long lines, I would have requested a wheel chair. I have a back problem and thought I could handle it without a wheel chair. I was in constant pain all week and did not enjoy the trip. Was not able to go ashore at the ports. I have cruised with another line and do not remember ever having lines like these. Too many people on one ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was very good. Only complaint is waiting in line which I guess can be expected on a large ship such as the Dream.

Service and Staff

Our housekeeper, Pie, was excellent. She always remembered our names. Very pleasant and upbeat. We had a couple of things that needed fixing, and she got it done for us. All of the waiters and staff in the buffet and restaurant were pleasant and helpful.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was kept very clean. The layout seemed fine. Just a lot of walking and going up and down decks which is to be expected.
Cabin / Stateroom

The size was a little smaller than expected. The bed was not that comfortable. The mattress could have been thicker.
Ship tip
I would advise them how many passengers there are and to be prepared for waiting in line. If they have a health/back problem. get a wheelchair.
We were told to be out of our cabin by 8:00 a.m. We went to deck 5 mid ship as instructed. When they called decks, instead of calling deck 7 first then our deck 8 later, they called decks 7, 8 and 9 at one time. We were self assisting with our luggage. We took the elevator down to deck 3. We were then told deck 3 was blocked off from to the area for disembarkation. We had to go up to deck 4, walk to the elevators that come out in the dream lobby, take the elevator down to deck 3. Well, everyone was trying to do this at the same time. Half of the elevators were not usable. Passengers were coming down from the higher decks so every time an elevator stopped, it was already full. Why weren't all elevators available? It took us an hour to get off.
That is awful about your embarking experience. What time did you get to the port and what time was your check in? I ask in hopes of avoiding the long lines. Thanks for your review!
We did the Dream this past July. She is a good ship, but I agree with you. She was the 5th Carnival ship we have been on. We have been on the Breeze (sister to the Dream), Splendor, Pride and the Sunshine also but our favorite is the Pride. Only holds just over 2,000 ppl and the layout is so smooth. Try to concider a Spirit class ship next time.
