Review summary

The room, the meals, the excursion on Half Moon Cay and the onboard amenities all surpassed my expectations going into the cruise. I can't thank the cruise staff enough for making my family feel welcome while going out of their way to offer amazing customer service! Let future passengers know what to expect for disembarkation and reentering the United States at Customs.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The drink package more than met our needs. We didn't try any of the specialty restaurants and stuck to the plated meals and buffets. We ordered room service once and the food was delivered fast!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The pools, hot tubs and water slide was never packed and we used them frequently. I enjoyed especially the Serenity areas where I could escape for awhile and relax under one of the bungalos.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Where to begin: YU kept our room clean and neat despite 4 people occupying it! She was extremely helpful by getting my suit pressed short-fuse so that I could wear it to the Elegant Meal. PHILIP was attentive as he addressed my family members by name as well as remembered what their drinks were. He set the bar high for being an attentive member of the wait staff. IWOYEN and ALLYSA were also attentive and met all my family's dining needs. Overall, the staff of PHILIP, IWOYEN and ALLYSA offered professional and friendly service to my family. Our seated meals were by far the best part of my family's trip.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
No complaints here. The staff was often doing touch-up painting on the exterior of the ship. Elevator service was touch-and-go due to volumes of passenger traffic; my family and I got our flights in!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The staff made sure that my requests for twin beds, a convertible couch and the pull-down bunk bed were ready when we arrived! Every day, YU, our room steward, made sure our room was clean and neat. She got my suit pressed within hours of my request so that I could wear it at the Elegant Meal the night after our shore excursion at Half Moon Cay.

Ship tip

Watch a video about US Customs regarding returning to the United States! Also, there's an Elegant Meal during the trip, so not every meal is casual attire.

Ports of call

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

Crystal blue waters and abundant lounge chairs! The pirate ship rocked although the top deck was closed for renovations. Very friendly staff all around the island and adequate water shuttle service so we weren't waiting too long to return to the ship.

Disembarkation

This was the #1 complaint of the whole trip. My family and I chose to go to breakfast in the Monet dining room; however, we had difficultly getting there because the staircase in the middle of the ship was blocked with passengers trying to disembark. Also, the staircase going from deck 5 to deck 4 was blocked off; the cruise staff could not explain to me why the staircase was blocked off. I figured out that it was to control the flow of traffic of the ship, but the staff needed to be able to verbalize this fact. A video on US Customs 101 for entering the United States would have been a helpful video for families who had never entered thru customs. My family was not prepared for the long lines and wait at customs. Leaving the ship and entering the United States was by far the worst part of our trip.
