Review summary

1st time on the Conquest and 5th time with Carnival. It was overall an awesome trip. The main complaint about the Conquest was it was the slowest dinner service we have ever had. Over 2 hrs sitting at dinner! And when we would ask for things like coffee or something small it took so long to get it. I feel like the dinner staff was just not on their game as usual. On the last day the head waiter took care of us and it was a big difference in the service. Much better.

Also, if you're a later diner, the service is usually slower (they're in no rush and are probably doing their side work and cleaning up for the night/prepping for the next day). If you're the first seating, they have to go quick to get you out for the last dinner seating. So I guess for those that like quicker service, pick the first seating. I like to hang out and chit-chat with friends and family, so I always pick the last seating.

I don't mind relaxing at dinner after a hectic day of excursions/activities. As far as the comment that the head waiter "On the last day the head waiter took care of us and it was a big difference in the service," I do notice myself that they are extra, extra nice on the last day because that's when they get their extra gratuities. Not sure if this is the case, but that's usually standard.

The food in the MDR on the Conquest is delicious, great and up to par

We too are finding that the MDR is taking 2-2.5 hours. We’ve noticed that we used to have a staff of three serving the table bit now it is often 2...and they have more tables to serve. We check out the menu online ahead of time and decide on MDR vs Lido buffet.

We assume it will be 2 hours. We enjoy the downtime and conversation. The food is worth the wait if you order the right things :)

Was the food worth the wait?

We just ghot back from our 17th cruise (all Carnival) and we have found that the main dining room service has become slower and slower, cruise by cruise. Seems it started abt 6 cruises ago. Taking from 2 to 2 1/2 hours just for dinner. We are going to start using the buffet more and adjusting our gratutity at the end of the cruise since we arent eating in the maib dining room.
