Review summary

This was a boring ship. When we were a captive audience at sea there was little to do. There were children in every dance area except the two where smoking was allowed. This made it very difficult to dance without stepping on a kid. The 'adult pool and sunning area' was very small and always crowded. The lounge chairs were never available. Smoking was rampant on this ship. The 2 dance areas where kids weren't allowed was so smokey I couldn't breath. The casino was very smokey too. To get to the adult area in the rear of the ship you had to walk through a wall of cigarette smokers in the open area. The 3 ports we stopped at were 9 hours at two of them and 7 hours at the third one. This was definatly not enough time in port. We signed up for excursions through Carnival and will not do that again. They only take you to areas that are approved by Carnival and what that ended up meaning was Carnival got a kick back from all the shops and stops. The food and drink were the same price as the ship. We spoke to others that booked with local excursion companies and WOW they got great deals. Now, I will say the excursions we took and the guides we had were very nice and informative just totally directed at select places. In Mexico I asked why we kept passing places that had different signs out front selling the same items but for far less money then the places we were being taken to. The answer; because this is where we have to go. I finally asked a driver to stop at an unscheduled place 1/10 of a mile down the street, and he said he would take me back there if there was time, and my word he did!. I got my blankets for less than half of anyone else. In a nut shell; 2 stops and longer stays at both would be preferable in my opinion. Prepare for highway robbery when you desire alcohol or soda, and prepare to smile for all the photos you feel bad about having shredded at the end of the cruise. I mean how many picture does a person need not to mention you probably have a camera with you. Plan a few excursions on your own. Take up smoking because you will feel like you did.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Hats off to the chefs and wait staff they get a 10+ Exceptional choices and exceptional taste. My husband and myself cook together all the time and entertain a lot so we really do know good food and this was the best. We were worried about it before we left. We were not disappointed at all with the dinning experiences.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
The adult comics were the best and only entertainment we thoroughly enjoyed. The dancers were good one night. Trivia was good once. Yoga, Pilates and those kinds of things cost extra. There was no movie night and movies in your room were an extra cost.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We did run into a a few that made little or no attempt to speak English. They were nice they just couldn't answer any questions or give directions.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship size was good but a few more mapped areas telling you how to get to and from point a and b was needed. For example; even though the 2 dinning rooms were on the same deck (deck 3) you had to go to one of the two decks (5 or 9) that went from front to back all the way through the ship. This took a minute to figure out. Public areas were very nice but most of them were very smokey.

Cabin / Stateroom

Our room was great! Do wish we knew one of the chairs reclined, found out by accident on the last day on board. Neil, our steward, was fantastic. There was little room in the fridge because it was full of soda and beer that Niel had to count twice daily, in case we used any of it they would need to charge us for it. The room was clean and nice.

Pros: The variety of food and the kindness of most of the crew.

Cons: The constant hawking on the ship; Buy alcohol? Buy water? Buy soda? Buy a photo? Buy internet minutes, Buy Starbucks, ect.....

Recommends Carnival Conquest? Yes!
