Review summary

We had never aspired to go on a cruise but we wanted to go to an island, however, Carnival Conquest changed our minds about cruises. We had a blast and our experience was better than we thought it would be. We enjoyed having two days to just relax on the ship. They had fun activities to help every let their hair down. The islands were fantastic for the most part. I would warn people about venturing on their own in Jamaica. We went to Negril, which was a nice beach, but we had to stay at one location or else get hit up with offers to buy drugs, etc. The best excursions we took were in Cayman Islands and Cozumel. In Cayman, you have to swim with the sting rays and snorkel. In Mexico, we went on the Mayan Cave Jeep Tour and private beach. The beach was actually at Playa Del Carman, which was secluded and beautiful. Of course, the perfect weather didn't hurt our attitudes any either. Our guides were funny and made our time interesting and action packed. They also kept an eye on the time to make sure we all got back to the ship on time. We did have to hurry a bit though and had very little time to go shopping in the ports. This happened at every island stop. I wish the ship could stay docked longer. But, we had not problems re-boarding the ship and as long as you hang on to your sail and sign card, things go smoothly. We didn't drink much, thank goodnes, but if you do, beware of racking up a large tab. Some people went crazy and ended up spending $100-200 a day on drinks. The sail and sign card makes it really easy to overspend. Otherwise, it's very convenient. You can also keep an eye your spending from the TV in your room. This was a nice feature. The shows were incredible. Very talented dancers are on the ship. Some special guests were flown in also. We had late dinner so the shows went late, but they were still worth it. The cruise director, Mark Price, was really fun too. We were amazed at the honesty and candidness of everyone with the cruise. Since they were entertaining people of all ages and cultural backgrounds, they did an amazing job of making everyone feel welcome and important. Best of all were our servers, Frank and Yahor. They were at dinner every night to meet us. We had good conversations with them but they were there to serve and they did it well. I could go on. We actually were surprised that we had so much fun on a cruise. We were fortunate and didn't get sea sick. Some people were suffering with that. The last day was fairly rocky, but we were heading back home, so we just rested most of the day any way. It took a day or two after we got off the ship to feel like the world stopped moving under our feet. Overall it was a great experience. We got to do what we set out to do and came home safe and sound. To God be the glory because his creation is so wonderful and beautiful and it's neat that we can enjoy the scenery and people from faraway places by sailing on the ocean. What a great experience.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Great food...got to try all kinds of new foods at dinner. Room service is always avaiable if you can't make it to a meal.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
There were many fun activities but no pressure to do everything. Everyone was on their own to pick and choose what they wanted to participate in.

Service and Staff

Everyone was helpful and kind.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Our room was very clean and kept that way by our steward.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We especially enjoyed having a balcony complete with two chairs and a table. Bedding is nice...down pillows and comforters.

Pros: The atmosphere, service, food, shows, our balcony and island experiences

Cons: The motion of the boat on the last day
