Overall the service and treatment we received was horrible. This was the worst cruise my family has ever been on. We will not cruise carnival again. They do not know how to treat guests during times of service disruption.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Before the cruise began the Miami port was shut down. During that time Carnival continued to text passengers saying don't go to the port. We had no where to go and had to waste 12 hours of time while waiting for Carnival, all on our own dime. This included paying for food, paying for parking at multiple garages and wasted fuel driving around. We were later told after boarding the boat, that a shuttle from the port to the local malls was provided free of charge that was never communicated to us by email or texts. We then arrived at 745pm to prepare to embark and were left stranded outside the terminal in the heat until we finally got on the ship after 11pm. There was no water provided to me, my wife and my kids at any point prior to the water provided on the ship. We were told by multiple carnival staff that water would be brought outside but this never happened, leaving us severely dehydrated and multiple people getting medical attention outside. We found out during the cruise from other passengers that 6 pack bottle water was given to passengers only inside the terminal, and these passengers took numerous 6 packs to keep for use during the cruise on board, and none of the 6 pack waters ever made it to the outside people. We were then promised restaurants would be open to serve dinner on the ship. When we finally made it on board, the restaurants were all closed and the staff told us there was no more food service other than the pizza place open for people to eat at. So here I was with my family trying to eat some kind of food and drink some water just so we could get to our room to bed. Overall we felt like steerage on an old ship, denied all essentials of food and water all because we were not priority boarded like the diamond and platinum members.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Dining room staff tried their best but the hostess kept giving them extra tables, resulting in lousy service. The waiters tried very hard, but overall very disappointing experience overall. The 555 restaurant food was amazing.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Pools and slides were great. Planned activities were little and far between. We were very bored on the ship.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
The shows were repetitive, boring and very few. Seen much better entertainment on other ships. Watched one show and did not waste our time on any other shows.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
My kids loved the childrens programs. They were great.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Room steward was great. Waiters did the best they could. Has problems with other staff on the ship being rude and unprofessional. Overall disappointed.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The open theater is a horrible idea. During the show the noise from guests walking by the open theater ruined the experience. The ship was kept clean and maintained during the cruise.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Beds were comfortable. The bathroom was smaller than other ships. Was difficult to shower and dry for an adult. Stop sacrificing comfort and size to fit more guests on the ship.
Ship tip
The ship had lousy entertainment. Pick another cruise line.
Didn't start calling zones till after 9am. Then called all zones to leave the ship in an attempt to get everyone off the ship by 10. Overall appeared unorganized and resulted in long lines at customs to exit the terminal.
The port incident was outside of Carnivals control. You can’t blame the cruise line for a disruption like that. Furthermore, on that sailing, carnival was offering a 20 USD compensation for activities or dining throughout Miami for passengers awaiting embarkation. It seems your poor lack of planning and awareness hindered your experience.
