Review summary

Enjoyed all the shows and new food options the Excel class ship has to offer. Going to be hard to go back to the “normal” size ships. If you have mobility issues however, the mega ship might not be for you.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
When we arrived at terminal F during our assigned time it was getting very full in the waiting area. We sat maybe 15-20 minutes before being called to board. Very smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
This is why we enjoyed the Excel class ship all the new dinner choices. We enjoyed Pig and Anchor, Big Chicken, Cucina Del Capito, Bonsai, etc. we only ate in the main dining room one night, lobster night and it took 2 hours. This was the only poor service experience on the cruise.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Enjoyed the patio pool deck 8 aft, didn’t seem as crowded as the lido pools. Casino was nice. We did Bolt and the ropes course as well.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Loved that there were so many different shows. Several nights we went to two different shows. The comedians were good, even PG shows. Attended playlist and center stage shows as well.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
My daughter didn’t seem to enjoy as much as on other ships and I think it was because there were just too many kids. There was always a drop off/pick up line.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
All service was as expected other than one slow main dining room experience.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I was pleasantly surprised that most of the time the ship did not feel crowded even with 6000 guests. The layout is much better where they have spread the dining venues out.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a premium interior, balcony side with no balcony. Room size was fine for 3 of us. Larger tv than in the past. Like that showers now have glass doors.

Ship tip

Skip the main dining room and try the other specialty restaurants. They are included if you have your time dining. Splurge for the Hibachi at Bonsai. Totally worth it.
