THE MOST AWFULLEST CRUISE!!! by cvicknair

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

THE SHIP WAS NOTHING LIKE THEY AVERTISED. IT SHOWS THE WATER SLIDES LIKE THEY WENT INTO A POOL (not). THEY SAY 24 HOURS OF FOOD (NOT UNLESS YOU HAVE PIZZA OR ROOM SERVICE) THEY SAID THEY HAD A WORK OUT PLACE, I DO NOT CALL HAVING A FEW METAL MACHINE OUTSIDE ON UPPER DECK A WORK OUT CENTER (OUTSIDE IN SUN). THE SWIMMING POOLS WERE WAY TO SMALL FOR ALL THE PEOPLE ON BOARD.

The service on this ship... by JeffreyLSFL

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Breeze

The service on this ship is consistently amazing, there are many well staffed bars and the food options are what you can expect. Specialty dining is over the top awesome and fairly cheap. Always do the cheers package if you have more than four drinks a day.

Beautiful Ship, by ZackKylieSam

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We had been on the Dream twice, and this ship was very similar. I've cruised 4 times with Carnival, and I've NEVER complained about anything, but this time, I feel like I had several things that bothered me. Let's start with the good things:

The ship is beautiful and clean, and the staff is amazing, as usual. The food in the Blush Dining Room was really good, and arrived within a reasonable amount of time, so no complaints there. The Steakhouse was delicious, but we didn't get the same personal service that we received on the Dream, where the chef came to our table and asked how things were. The waitresses were perhaps being trained during this cruise. They were slower to ask if we needed anything, and seemed a bit disorganized. But they were all very kind.

We were looking forward to hanging out in the Red Frog Pub a lot. Emmanual is the head waiter and is excellent. Unfortunately, he wasn't around after day 4, so we had waiters who were much less interested in serving us quickly. Even when we were the only people sitting at the bar, it would take several minutes to be asked what we wanted. There's a small stage, and Justin Time (Just-in-time) played nice sing-along pub music. He lets you choose the songs, and he's a really good entertainer, The female singer 'Selkie' had a beautiful voice, but sang songs that were way too mellow.  The only real problem with the Red Frog Pub is that kids were allowed in there at all times. It didn't feel like an adult space. We were very disappointed by that. We're not used to kids in pubs.

On the Dream, we would stop at The Taste Bar, next to the Ocean Plaza, every evening to get a small taste of something yummy. On the Breeze the Taste Bar was only open a few nights. That was disappointing. Although it was open during the afternoons for delicious wraps and salads. The Ocean Plaza was a great place to hang out after the late supper and listen to music. This was the highlight of our cruise. 'GROUP 6' is an excellent band and played every night. We loved their music. Unfortunately, they shared the stage with Selkie (beautiful voice, boring music), Karaoke and occasionally Justin Time (who was really good, but not as good as GROUP 6). I wish GROUP 6 would have played for a few hours every night, all by themselves. The waiters in this area were wonderful, and it really was our favorite place to hang out in the evenings.

The Serenity deck was nice. Usual complaints with people putting their belongings on the 'clam shell' loungers (which are the best seats), and leaving for hours, while people walked around looking for seats. The waiters rarely came around asking if you wanted a drink. On the Dream Serenity deck someone asked you very frequently if you wanted anything. On the Breeze, it would be 2 hours before I would see a waiter. I mostly had to go to the bar myself to be served. Not a huge deal, but I would have liked to see more waiters.

The Piano Bar was our absolute favorite on the Dream. Not on the Breeze. I'm sure 'Jordan' is a nice guy, and he played the piano well, but I hated how he sang. It's hard to explain... my husband says he wasn't a good singer or entertainer. I thought he changed the rhythm, or the tone of each song so much, that you couldn't sing along, or really enjoy the song. It just wasn't enjoyable listening to him. Maybe he's new, or shy, but the Piano Bar was empty a lot. We felt bad for him. We tried 5-6 times to sit and have a drink, but always left after one or two songs. Sorry Jordan.

The Comedy Club was OK. We saw 3 shows, and only one was funny. We weren't 'offended' by anything, we just didn't find them funny. I probably would have still gone to more comedy shows, but the line ups were crazy.

Last comment is about the room. We chose room 12001 for several reasons. It was on the Spa deck, so we assumed it would be quiet. And it was the first room at the very front of the ship, so we had a fantastic view of the front of the ship on one side of our balcony, and only one neighbor on the other side. We thought we had one of the best rooms on the ship, until a few hours into our cruise. We knew the gym was on the other side of our wall, but every photo we found of the gym showed treadmills near the wall. I'm OK with the sound of treadmills. I'm NOT OK with the sound of people using the 400lb leg press machine from 6am to 10pm. Three weight machines were about 3 feet from my wall. It was beyond horrible. The banging was so loud that it woke me every single morning by 6:30am. The banging was everyday, all day. I really don't think that I enjoyed a full 20 minutes without the horrible banging ,for 15 hours a day, during the entire 8 days. Things fell off our shelves. Our phone fell off it's cradle. I love to take an afternoon nap on vacations, but it was impossible. It ruined my cruise. I could never relax in my 'spa' room. My husband slept outside on the deck. They couldn't move us because the ship was full. I was exhausted the whole 8 days. My room will never be anywhere near a gym on my future cruises. Lesson learned!!

I'm sorry for sounding like I complained a lot. I just wanted to be honest. I'm booked on the Carnival Sunshine next in a room far, far away from the gym! ;)

Itinerary was great, Service was lacking by KellyD1228

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I took this cruise with my mom and my 9 year old son.  I've cruised several times and I normally choose Royal Caribbean, Princess or Norwegian but the itinerary on this cruise attracted me to this cruise.  I was not disappointed at all with any of the ports on this boat, although I was unable to get off the boat in La Romana because of an injury I sustained the day before.  On that note, I was extremely disappointed in the service and bedside manner of both the nurse and doctor who attended to me.  Both acted as though I was inconveniencing them because it was 7pm and the medical office closes at 6pm even though I agreed to the $150 afterhours charge.  I was even charged for a 2nd x-ray, even though the doctor said it was overexposed and unreadable.  My son had to go to the medical center on a Royal ship a few years ago for an asthma related issue and we were treated drastically different, even though we had to call the doctor in in the middle of the night.

This was my first tme to try the "My Time" dining, which I will never do again.  The idea of eating in the dining room when you want is great, however, how it actually plays out, is not.  The service is drastically different than what you get with a set time dining.  There is no waiting whatsoever with a set time and having the same waitstaff makes a huge difference.  On one night of the cruise, we received a buzzer to be called when our table was ready and waited an additional 30 minutes (which is in addition to the 20+ minutes we waited in line to get a buzzer).  Then they called EVERYONE with a buzzer at the same time, so there was mass chaos and another wait of 15-20 minutes before we were seated.  The waitstaff for My Time Dining throughout our entire cruise were not personable at all, which was totally different than what I'm used to when cruising.  The food in the dining room was okay, but probably the worst I've had on all the cruises I've taken.   There was a pretty good selection of food for breakfast and lunch at the buffet, you just have to pay attention to the times it's open.

I will say our stateroom attendant was outstanding.  He always had a smile on his face and greeted each of us by name when he saw us.  Had it not been for his top notch service, I would have been completely disappointed in the cruise.

My 9 year old son really enjoyed the Splash Zone, Sports Deck and the Ropes Course.  He also seemed to enjoy the kids club.

I was also a bit disappointed to learn that Carnival doesn't have any option to create a picture book from your pictures like Royal and Norwegian.

In Grand Turk, there is no need to purchase an excursion if you are just wanting to go to the beach, shop, go to a pool or bar, as all of those things are at the end of the pier when you get off the boat.  All of the excursions we wanted to take in Curacao and Aruba were sold out so we took our chances with the tours they offer on the pier, which I had never done before.  I was shocked at how good a $20pp tour was in both locations!  Our tours went to all the same places we wanted to go on the tour offered by Carnival for less than half the price!  Curacao was so clean & nice and for the most part, Aruba was as well.  Grand Turk was nice and it was great that everything was so close to the boat.

Overall, I rated this cruise a 3 because of the fantastic service we received from our stateroom attendant and because Carnival is the only cruiseline to offer this itinerary and it's great.  The service we received in the dining room and especially from the medical staff, certainly left something to be desired.  I'd love to go to these ports again, just not on the Carnival Breeze.

Best Cruise Since 1997 by leecpayne72

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Great Ship, Super Crew, excellent intertainment. Cruise Director was off the hook (Very Very Good). Eating options on Lido Deck was the bomb (very Very Good). Since 1997 my wife of 47 years and I look forward with great anticipation to our annual Cruise on Carnival Fun Ships. Groove 6 music group was absolutely super. They were on every night with a variety of music (motown, the 70,s, 80,s, etc.). We never had a bad experience with Carnival, but this one was the best.

Love carnival by katiebortniker

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I have been on 6 cruises. And this one did not disappoint. The ship is brand new and absolutely gorgeous. It's big enough to compete with the newest ships out there but not so big that you feel lost. The food and service was amazing. Everything was amazing. My one and only complaint is that the pools (only 2 for 4000 people) were just too small. Like being in a fish tank. But even with that I will definitely return!

Assaulted on the Breeze by barryv

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My family (4 people, 2 cabins) set sail on the Carnival Breeze on 6/1/14. My wife & I were in one cabin & my sister and my 13 yr. old son in the connecting cabin next door. For the most part the cruise was wonderful until the morning of our return to our home port of Miami. About 4 am I woke and needed to use the restroom in our cabin. After that i decided to go out onto our balcony to get some air. I was out there for maybe 5-6 minutes and went back inside to go back to bed.... As I was passing the connecting door to my sisters cabin I heard her ask "who's there?".connecting door and saw my sister sitting on the edge of her bed facing her cabing door. I told her not to worry that it was only me coming back in form the balcony. She then turned and said to me "someone is knocking on my cabin door". I told her that I would check it out. I went back into my cabin and looked out through the peep hole in the door. I could see both ares of our 2 doors. I saw no one. I opened the door and at that moment a young man, maybe between the ages of 16-19, jumped in front of me and shoved a slice of hot pizza into my face. He and his accomplice (who I could not see as he was hiding around the corner holding the elevator for his friend) then laughed and took off. My initial reaction was to get the hot pizza sauce off my face before it burned me. After that I ran after them but they were already on the elevator and gone. I went back to my cabin and immediately called Guest Services to report this incident. No one answered. So my son and I went down to the Guest Services desk to make the report in person. The person at the desk immediately called for Security and he arrived within about 2 minutes. He took my statement and then said he was going to go look for the two perpetraitors. I was vedry dissaponted that neither the Security person or the person at the Guest Services desk did not even ask if I was ok? Did i get burned? Do I need medical attention? Nothing of the sort. I do not feel that Carnival Cruise Lines provided a safe environment for my family and I. I am concerned that what would have happened had my sister opened the door? Or my son? Neither of them would have been able to stop these people from entering their cabin. They could have been robbed, beaten or even worse. It was just lucky that I, a larger man, opened the door. I have spoken with Carnival regarding this incident and they have decided to do nothing. So i am going to every social media I can find to alert peopel about this and to be wary of sailing with Carnival.

Almost Perfect by TimeCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

As a first time cruiser I found this cruise to be very very enjoyable.  With only a few minor hiccups marring a otherwise great experience.

Likes - The ship is massive with loads of ambiance and energy.  There's so many options for things to do on ship it's hard to take it all in.  Food was as expected which was pretty good but not mindblowing.  I especially enjoyed the Guy's Burger Joint although I wish it was open at night.  The Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse is money well spent on a truly first class experience.  There's also plenty of places to enjoy adult beverages.  Especially enjoyed the Red Frog and the ThirstyFrog Red draft beer.  Which IMO is the best value on the ship if beer is your thing.  The staff for the most part were all very nice and courteous.  Our room attendant was especially pleasant and helpful.  Seemed to always be around when you needed him.  The room (interior) was basic but clean and comfortable.  The ships ride was pretty smooth.  The captain seemed to be able to move the thing around in port like it was a small car which I found impressive.  Loved the Lido deck and the massive video board.  Great place to watch a movie.  Even better place to watch a game as I was able to watch Game 1 of the NBA finals there.  Turned into a stadium like atmosphere of fun cheering and booing quickly.

Dislikes - Most of these are just minor quibbles, but enough to take away from the overall experience for myself.  The red waterslide, Drainpipe I think, was not a comfortable ride.  You could feel every seam in the piping rake across your back as you slid down.  Turned me off from even wanting to bother to wait in line for the other one which I've heard wasn't as bad.  No excuse for that not to have been fixed long ago.  Also, there wasn't as many pools as I feel there should be on a ship of that size.  There are only two and both are pretty small.  Too small to really enjoy any swimming due to size and sheer number of people in the pools.  The floor in the main buffett eating area was always super slick.  To the point that any rubber soled shoe would slip and slide with normal steps.  The toilet paper was dingy roadstop gas station quality.  Real John Wayne TP.  I highy recommend packing a couple rolls of whatever your normal brand as take on.

Overall it was a great week.  It was my first cruise and was good enough that I'm already planning a second one in the very near future.  Most likely another Carnival ship as I feel as a company they did more than enough to earn my repeat business.  It wasn't a perfect experience, but it was pretty close, and in the end provided excellent value.

Elegant Ship with Exceptional Service by GilSternbach

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I tend to shy away from cruises because I prefer to explore destinations at length and in depth.  However, our cruise consultant (Leilani at www.AsYouWishVacations.com) highly recommended the Breeze because it is the newest and largest in the Carnival fleet.  She assured us that the adults and teenagers in our party would enjoy the ship's diverse amentiies.  She was right and we were not disappointed.  The cabins were well-appointed and functional; we enjoyed the views from our balcony stateroom.  The ship's elegant design, impressive entertainment, and wide array of dining options exceeded all of our expectations.  We particularly enjoyed the nightly playlist production performances on the ship's main stage (in the Ovation Theater) and the stand-up comedy acts at the Punchliner Club in the Limelight Lounge, which is a partnership between Carnival and famed comedian George Lopez.  While we were surprised that the ship didn't have an adult-only pool, it did have two pools (at mid-ship and stern), multiple spa/hot tubs, a large adult-only Serenity sun deck (on the top deck - deck 15), which was appointed with comfy deck chairs, plush lounges, hammocks, a private bar, and secluded jacuzzi/shower.  The Cloud 9 gym and spa (located on decks 12 and 14, directly below the Serenity sun deck at the front of the ship), is sufficiently large, well-equipped, and relaxing.  Our family particularly enjoyed the nightly fine dining experiences, when we looked forward to savoring, sampling and sharing the menu offerings that changed daily.

Despite having a capacity of about 3,700 passengers, the ship was always busy yet never crowded.  We rarely waited in long lines.  There was more than ample staff to cater to all passenger needs and keep the ship in pristine condition at all times.  Our six-night cruise docked at Key West, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel.  While there is plenty to do and explore in Grand Cayman and Mexico, Key West is only mildly interesting. Carnival also offers an 8-night cruise on the Breeze that docks in Grand Turk, Dominican Republic, Curacao, and Aruba.
