Review summary

For my first solo trip I have no complaints. Overall I had a great time and made the most of my trip. I did what I wanted and when I wanted to do it. I spent a lot of time in adult only areas and pampered myself. I did an excursion that I have never done before and had a great time. I would definitely sail Carnival again

Embarkation

Although it is frowned upon I flew in the morning of my cruise from DC to HOU. Everything went smoothly with my flight and I booked the transportation thru the cruise line. Transportation left the airport on time and got me to the cruise port a little before 11am. I also purchased FTTF so I went thru the priority line. There was no waiting once I got there and everything went pretty quickly. I was on board the ship by 11:20am

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Overall I enjoyed every meal and drink I had. I enjoyed different venues and had a variety of drinks in food. My favorite meal was the 555 Steakhouse!

Sapphire Dining Room

5 out of 5

I had your time dining and we ate in the Sapphire Dining Room. The food was delicious in my opinion and I enjoyed my experience while dining there.

Lido Marketplace

I ate here twice and both for breakfast; once because I didn’t have time to make sea day brunch before my massage and on debarkation day because I wasn’t leaving my cabin at 6:30 for a booked breakfast at Blush lOl. The selection was pretty good and I enjoyed the meals I had. The orange juice cocktail mixture they had was so good to me. I had it both times!

I ate here for Sea Day Brunch. A very popular breakfast spot on those sea days. I checked in around 9:30am and there was already a 30-40 min wait. I enjoyed my meal when I got there. I started with a Caesar salad with salmon and then I had scrambled eggs and turkey bacon (very thin and not my fav of the meal) and then I finished off with a banana crème pie which was delicious

BlueIguana Cantina

I only ate here once and it was for breakfast on the port day. I had the chicken tacos and they were pretty good. I didn’t enjoy them enough to get them again but they served their purpose for breakfast that’s for sure

Guy's Burger Joint

4 out of 5

I always enjoy a good Guys Burger! I only had two on this sailing; the pig patty and a straight up. I enjoyed the straight up more than the pig patty this time around but they were both still good!

Fahrenheit 555

Now fun fact; if you book the steakhouse on the first night you get a complimentary bottle of wine. I however went on the 2nd night because I wanted to go on elegant night. Every thing I had was DELICIOUS! For my appetizer I had the jumbo cocktail shrimp and the oysters; chefs kiss delicious! For my entree I had the surf and turf. The lobster was delicious and the butter complimented it beautifully. Then the filet was grilled to perfection. I finished off with an apple tart type dessert which I can’t recall the name but it was so good! A nice delicious crust with cooked apples and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream; an absolute treat

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Every day I went to the gym (expect embarkation and debarkation day due to the gym not being open or opening later in the day). There is plenty of equipment to make use of for a good full body workout. The serenity deck was also a nice getaway for some adult only relaxation. Football Sunday was a great day to be up there because everyone was watching the games so it was easy to enjoy the hot tub, get a chair and relax. I took full advantage of the spa services as well and had a hot stone massage twice! Emily is a miracle worker with those hot stones I tell you!

Serenity

It’s just something about being away from other peoples kids that brings a sort of peace to your vacation. The hot tub was available each time I went up there and the servers made their rounds to ensure the drinks were flowing. Although some would say they wish they showed up more often but it was just enough for me lOl.

Jogging Track

5 out of 5

The jogging track was conveniently near the gym so once I finished my workouts I completed my cardio outside. I enjoyed power walking around the track in the mornings. Such beautiful views while out there.

Ovation Theatre

This happened to be my muster station (A5) and also where I watched guess that groove. The Guess that groove show was fun to watch people play and also singing from the balcony 😂

Liquid Nightclub

5 out of 5

I attended the night club once and it was surely a vibe. Dancing and carrying on until the morning hours. I called it a night at 2 am but it didn’t seem like they were any closer to closing when I left. The drinks were pretty good and strong. I enjoyed the music selection and the energy in the club when I went.

Breeze Atrium

5 out of 5

I attended the Motown Party and had a blast as I always do! I love this era of music and it was great to enjoy it with others who love it as well. We did the soul train line and a conga line. A time was surely had and I enjoyed all the singing and dancing.

Ocean Plaza

I only went here once for Harry Potter Trivia and I enjoyed myself. The Harry Potter Trivia was fun as always! It is always great to see so many people who still love the series as much as I do! #TeamSlytherin

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service I received was pretty good. My room steward did a great job with my room and I loved the towel animals per usual. Multiple staff members sang to me for my birthday which I really enjoyed as well. The dining room staff was pretty timely with my food requests which was much appreciated. The fun squad were a whole vibe from day 1 and made the experience so much better.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The layout of the ship wasn’t too difficult to follow for me. I have been on multiple Carnival cruise ships before but this was my first time in the Breeze and it didn’t take me long to learn my way around the ship. For the most part cleanliness was in order. I only noticed that on embarkation day the jogging track and most of the outside aft decks were covered in soot from the whale tail. The staff worked quickly to clean it up but that was my first time experiencing that on any of my sailings.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I gave this room 5 star rating only because the Good significantly outweighed the concerns. If you plan to use the gym or spa services I HIGHLY recommend the spa cabins. The gym was literally 20 steps from my room and I loved that; the spa is there too but I was there for the gym mostly lOl. There is plenty of storage space for any length cruise so I had plenty for my 4 night adventure. One concern was the bathroom; asides from the shower curtain which wouldn’t know personal space if it was ironed on as decor, the drain in the shower was extremely slow. Not slow enough to flood the bathroom but slow enough to have you standing in a water deep enough for your shower shoes to float around while you raise your leg to wash and scrub your feet. That was my main concern for the room. I never had a probablem with noise or my neighbors. I love that no one above me could look directly down into my balcony area and there is plenty of privacy to enjoy the balcony as I pleased. The spa robes are extremely comfortable and the location in relation to the gym/spa was my favorite perked. Next to the spa service discounts which also come with this stateroom

Ship tip

Do your research! At the time of this review the Breeze is sailing out of Galveston so if you get the drink package it will not start working until the next day due to Galveston Liquor laws. Keep that in mind when booking a sailing out of Galveston. Also, we debarking in Galveston if you have your duty free alcohol visible they will charge you a liquor tax in Galveston (this did not happen to me personally but a passenger told me about her experience the first time she cruised out of Galveston) So if you can put your liquor in your suitcase/backpack or the money you saved in port/on ship will be going to Galveston, TX. I heard thru the FB group ppl had problems with the children/teens on board moving decorations around on decks 6-8, roaming the halls loudly and banging on stateroom doors. In my experience those decks and lower are popular for families so keep that in mind. To my knowledge there were very few families with children on the higher decks (specifically speaking for deck 12 where I was) I say all this to tie back to my first statement; do your research on this ship and any ship you plan to sail on down to average passenger age at a given time of year if avoiding a certain age group is your desire.

Disembarkation

An extremely easy process for me. I had FTTF but I opted to stay on board a little longer since my shuttle didn’t leave until 10:00a. I put my large suitcase outside my door the night before so it was waiting for me when I got off the ship. I enjoyed one last breakfast and relaxed on the deck until about 9:15a. I walked off the ship with minimal lines at the time of day. My bag was in Zone 4 which was as soon as I entered the terminal. The passport line went quickly and I walked straight to where my shuttle service thru the cruise line had dropped me off. I was on the bus by 9:30-9:40 and actually ended up having the shuttle to myself on my way to Hobby.
