Review summary

The main disappointment we had is they didn't dock at Costa Maya. The captain said the weather was bad, but it didn't seem bad to anyone on board. The ocean seemed calm, and we weren't even moving around. I didn't think that would even be an option to go all the way to the port and be told we couldn't dock. I would think Carnival would know the weather etc. before we got all the way there. Carnival should post on the itinerary the percentages of how often the port you are going to gets cancelled. We would have just booked the 3 day cruise to Cozumel if we knew that port doesn't make often.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
There was plenty of food, but my husband and I both found everything had a strange taste. We went to the Steakhouse on the first night and it was okay but nothing special.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The bands/shows were good. Did not enjoy the comedians.

Entertainment

3 out of 5

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff was excellent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Plan to take the stairs. Elevators are packed, but the stairs are wide and weren't hard to go up and down.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We thought the cabin was larger than we expected.

Ship tip

Wear comfortable shoes and plan to take the stairs.

Ports of call

The captain is responsible for the ship, safety of the crew and passengers. It’s not our place to second guess their decisions.

Unfortunately, they are other safety factors that also affect being able to dock. We were on several cruises that weren't able to dock because of weather, but it's in our cruise contract.
