Review summary

I always enjoy it! I'd have to try real hard to not enjoy a cruise. I'll be 50 in a few days and slept on a pull-down bunk and was just fine (but that ladder was rough on these old feet)

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Faster to the Fun! We parked at Port Parking (by mistake... Galveston Park & Cruise is so much better). From the time our shuttle dropped us at the terminal until we were on the ship was maybe 5 minutes. It was however long it took 3 old ladies to make it through all the line-skipping routes where they kept directing us. I have 2 more cruises until Platinum and I'll buy FTTF for both of those if I can catch it.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Guys Burgers is always an embarkation day hit for me😋. Buffet was typical. It is pretty sad that they don't offer bacon on every day's breakfast buffet, but those baked beans were there, at breakfast, every day. We ate at Pig & Anchor one day and those collard greens were the best this country girl has ever had! Somebody done lied about that Mac & cheese, though, not good at all. This was my 11th cruise in the last 21 years and it is sad to see how the main dining room has cut back on the fare offered, as well as the quality of service. Nothing was "bad" it's just a gradual decline. My food was all good, except my last bite of tiramisu tasted like a green persimmon. I wish they'd move those dang ice cream machines to somewhere I didn't have to walk by all day long. They call to me like Sirens and I end up eating about 3 a day. I haven't weighed yet, but probably gained 5 pounds on this 4 day cruise. That tells you all you need to know about the dining, at least from someone who is not picky.

Onboard Activities

I always pre-purchase the spa thermal suites package. The last sea day, this cruise, it was very crowded in there. They say they sell "a limited number" of those passes but I'd be curious to see what that limited number actually is. It is sold as a package with several thermal choices but there was always at least 1 or 2 of the thermal rooms closed during this cruise. We did trivia a couple of times but weren't interested in the movies at Seaside Theater.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We watched "88 Keys" in main theater and it was okay but I've definitely seen much better entertainment on past cruises. We enjoyed a couple of comedians, but there is no other Mutzie (IYKYK). The country music girls sounded great, as did the violin trio.

Service and Staff

Significant decline since cruise on Vista one year ago. I saw one man taking one drink order in the Punchliner during one of the afternoon/early evening comedy shows. Our room steward was very friendly but room was pretty dusty. We found a pair of glasses in the space around my Pullman bed and a ring in the safe. We had to ask 3 times for spa robes and then when we finally got them, one was missing the belt. Our first-time cruiser loved the towel animals.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I LOVE The Breeze and The Dream (same layout). She's beginning to show her age and I understand. We're both in need of a good dry dock spruce up. Those poor people who try to keep her clean are up against some tough opponents 🤦🏼‍♀️.

Cabin / Stateroom

As expected but a little unclean. Good amount of clothes hangers for 3 women.

Ship tip

It'll be what you decide it will be. Have fun and enjoy!

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
After 11 Carnival cruises I still can never predict disembarkation. They do it SO WELL sometimes, but this time it was a big miss! Apparently (Facebook rumor has it) that there was a woman on board who went on the cruise knowing she had a warrant out for her arrest. So, they had to take her into custody before the rest of us could get off the ship. This woman's name is Chelsea. That was a 45 minute delay for everyone else. Also, FTTF is supposed to wait with priority guests and they wouldn't let us. We were with the rest of the cattle herd on deck 5. Taylor was another name that everyone on that sailing will remember, but I ain't trying to tell you that story. There are too many versions.
