Review summary

We had a great time and I have a created a cruise monster! My nephew will without a doubt be back for many more cruises throughout his life! Carnival has been a great cruise line for me and my cruise group, and I plan to sail with them again and again! They are called the fun ships for a reason! 🛳️

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We used the express lot parking and from the time we stepped out of the truck and onto the ship was under 30 minutes!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
My nephew loved the spaghetti at Cucina and we ate there twice a day with the exception of port day..! Decem and Kamille were very sweet and made my nephews first cruise that much more memorable. Each time we left he commented how nice they were. When I did get sushi and pizza, they were good as well.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
From water slides, to the ropes course, to dive-in movies, there was plenty to keep an 11 year old busy on a 5 day cruise!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
DJ’s were good and kept the ship vibe fun, the musicians in the Ocean Plaza were surprisingly great, and the Hero’s Tribute was moving. 🇺🇸

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
My nephew attended Camp Ocean just one night and said he had a great time! They participated in activities and played games, giving the adults a couple hours of free time.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was friendly as always, the ladies at Cucina went above and beyond!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship design and layout are great on the Dream class ships! Public spaces were not as clean as typical is the reason for 1 less star. The lanterns in the atrium need serious attention.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The stateroom was great and being on lido was a win with an 11 year old who wanted to be outdoors most of the cruise. My only reason for docking a star was the shower had not been cleaned, there was sand and a razor from the previous guest. Had to ask the steward to clean. Also, this room is directly off the elevators, so you get a bit more noise. Be mindful of that if you’re a light sleeper.

Ship tip

If traveling with kids, book a room on lido for quick access to outdoor activities.

Ports of call

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

5 out of 5
This was my favorite trip to Progreso! Went to the Reef Club Beach Resort, booked through Carnival. All inclusive provided food, pool, beach access, drinks, etc.. and the service was great!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
This was a smooth process. Took about 25 minutes from leaving the room til we were in the truck.
