Review summary

For those who are cruising or have cruised on the Caribbean Princess and you’ve had a change in itinerary due to propulsion issues, how many ports was your original cruise scheduled for? Also, is it always the first port that gets cancelled? We are scheduled on the July 7th cruise and our ports of call are: Princess Cays, St Thomas and St Maarten. I could care less about missing Princess Cays since it’s a leisurely beach day, but I would be upset to miss St Thomas or St Maarten as we cruised there last March and it’s the reason for our return.

Thanks for the response! Not worried about hurricanes this year at that time. Just hoping they have a handle on repair for last years! And not b/c it may affect our cruise, just hoping for all of those affected! I gotta believe all of that may have something to do with all of the schedule changes. Shame about medallion! Was looking forward to it!

Everyone keeps telling me not to worry. That the big hurricanes develop usually later in the season (Aug & Sept). I called about Ocean Medallion and heard it’s only on the Regal until they work out the kinks.

We're on the July 7 as well. Originally had Turks, but now removed from schedule. How much of the schedule changing may be due to hurricanes you think. Most of those stops had a seriously rough time and it takes time to get back to 100%! Just looking forward to a fun cruise! Anymore news about Ocean Medallion?

This issue is different than the other one this current issue wasnt found until after drydock...i have been following this as i will be on her this year

The Caribbean Princess has had this issue for over two years and it should have been fixed in the 2017 dry dock, but the drydock was spent remodeling the buffet and adding new bedding. I have been on ships that had an engine quit and we met the new engine at St Thomas and it was installed during the cruise. The Caribbean Princess is is my favorite after Royal and Regal, but I feel sorry for the staff that has to continually deal with the cancelled ports etc, due to a corporate decision to delay the repairs. My daughter went on it over Christmas and they had numerous port time adjustments due to the problem. Bad news for a wonderful ship.

Nmgilber they can not guarantee there will be no more changes...read the contract they can change thw itinerary even while on the ship if safety or operations require it. We have haf it happen and they will refund port fees if changes are made...sucks when u have plans but nothing is 100% guaranteed

Because they have 2 wait for part to come in and they cant let a ship of that size sit idle for that length of time and lose money. It us a business after all. Any ship can lose power at anytime so if you are worried about that dont cruise. We were just on the crown and woke obe morning to the ship listing it is a ship on water things happen. Only lasted about an hour and didn't affect our trip. I follow the ship closely and have not heard reports of it losing power recently and just being adrift...as the propulsion issue has nothing to do with that area of losing complete power to the ship.

We booked about a month ago. When you look at the map for the itinerary it does show a stop at Turks which is not listed as one of the days. I just wanted to ensure they would not make another change.

We booked on Xmas day and got the change email yesterday. If it is not a simple fix, why do they continue t9 sail all year long....sailing another Year? We’ve read reviews where they lost power, etc and listed for awhile. Does not sound fun to us??!

When did u book? If more recently then the changes may have already been made when u booked. Plus she us going into dry dock in march or april of 2019 to have it fixed as it is not a simple fix

Thank you! Luckily we have 160 days until our cruise and I have not received any emails about ports or length of time in the ports being changed. I’m hoping that based on the two replies here if they were planning to make changes, they would have already done it further out from the sail date and not closer to. I’m sorry that you received changes to your itinerary. That must extremely upsetting. I do agree that they need to fix the issue.

We are booked for the Panama Canal Cruise in December. Over 300 days away and just got an email changing one port and the length of time for each ports. All in all, they have shortened port times by 5 hours. After reading many reviews, we are going to cancel this cruise on the Caribbean and book another. They need to fix this ...technical... problem, not shorten and change the schedules. Expect more changes.

We are on the similar cruise in August...st maarten and st thomas switched days so now st thomas has less hours and we originally had grand turk then dropped then it was amber cove then dropped and now a sea day. I beleive they have finished changing all the schedules as we just got our last change...we are actually doing a b2b...and both have jumped all around in times and dates...we also booked about a year ago or more
