Review summary

In my opinion Britannia is far too big and I do not think that I will sail on Britannia again due to the size and the ultra modern feel, it also feels more like a hotel/shopping centre rather than a ship. The ship also attracts a younger crowd which causes a more lively atmosphere rather than a traditional P&O atmosphere however many people enjoy cruises on Britannia.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Efficient.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food in the MDR was acceptable however because of the number of passengers in the restaurant it felt impersonal. The food was great in the Epicurean.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The main pool felt a little bit crowded in the day however other areas were okay.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The theatre shows were good as always with P&O Cruises. The sail away event felt rowdy.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
All staff were pleasant. Our cabin steward was friendly and helpful. The waiters didn’t seem to provide personal and attentive service (MDR).

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was very clean however for me Britannia is far too modern and it doesn’t feel inviting due to the decor and the size.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Suite. The suite was spacious and clean with a contemporary feel.

I’ve been on Britannia six times. We travel as a couple and have never taken children with us. I have to say that I’ve never experienced any problems from children on board. I’ve never found the lido deck rowdy. Although, sun loungers are too close to each other. It is a big ship but that’s what we like as there plenty of space for everyone. The crew are friendly and helpful.

I have to agree. We went on Britannia and will never again. I go with my family, they aren't out of control! We had the impression it was like a free for all. Just rude people, I've never had that before. The ship is lovely, but layout very awkward for for wheelchair users due to having no lift midship, I think? Perhaps it was the time of year we went or just with a bad mix of people? I still dont know.

Julie4shaun, I do tend to stick with the adults only and Cunard, but I’ve never seen such atrocious behaviour- profanities on deck, a party atmosphere, casual attire in the evening. Normally the family friendly ships are acceptable but Britannia seems to be an exception.

So you didn't like Britannia your loss I've been on her twice and loved both times never once felt it was overcrowded or it was swarmed with families how can you say they should limit the amount of families can sail the best thing for you is to stick to sailing on the adult only ships

rob87, my point being that I have never seen such a pathetic excuse of a ship in my life. It is ultra modern, impersonal and too large with too many passengers crammed in. There are so many families that it feels like a swarm, there should be a limit on the number of families and they should respect others on board rather than just treat it as a cheap Spanish holiday. When you pay nearly £10,000 for a holiday you expect a certain type of passenger. I don’t just sit on my balcony or on the ship unless I’ve already been to the port (which is my choice on my cruise)

And that proves what? Family ship and larger ships your going to get family on them. I've seen many people like yourself go on cruises say they been all over. But spent the whole time stuck on the ship or on the balcony. Ace.

rob87, I’ve done 13 Cunard cruises now (including a world voyage) and I’ve done roughly 25 P&O all of which were outstanding (mainly adults only and the older ships).

It dose say family ship. Probably best with Cunard ships. I personally think that the cruise ships should do things for both old & young passengers. The ships are big enough now.
