Review summary

I've seen a few people attacked when they leave a lackluster review so let me preface this by saying I love cruising! Honestly, I've been hooked since day 1. I even got married on a Carnival cruise ship! This is my 3rd Royal Caribbean cruise. This is the first time I've ever been ready for my trip to be over. I'm so sad to say that I was completely underwhelmed by this vacation. The ship showed some wear but nothing terrible, a few missing elevator buttons here and there, chipped paint, gouges in the walls. Nothing that would take away from the beautiful views. The attitude of the crew, however, did dampen the trip. Everyone just seemed like they were bothered by the guests. I felt like a nuisance every single time asking for a soda refill at the windjammer. The first night in the main dining room, the chicken was undercooked and the wait staff seemed rushed and frantic. The first smile our head waiter cracked was at the end when he asked that we remember him when filling out our survey. We did not try the main dining room again until the last 2 nights. Our wait staff there was terrific! Dennis and Elizabeth were amazing! Also, our stateroom attendant, Angela, was excellent! The rest of the crew seemed overworked, overwhelmed and in need of a vacation of their own. We were often bored and so were our kids. They liked Adventure Ocean okay. Our 7 year old was always ready to be picked up sooner than expected and our 4 year old didn't want to go at all after the first time. It was a stark contrast to our experience on Disney where we had to basically drag them out (but that's probably not a fair comparison). We had an issue with a pre cruise purchase we made on RCCL cruise planner. We had to jump thru hoops to get it corrected. I mean, seriously, we had to go thru 4 different people and didn't get it settled until day 3! For stinking arcade credit! This wasn't the ship for us, obviously. I feel like the overall feeling of the other guests was the same as ours. The guest relations desk was always full of angry cruisers. We had to visit there twice ourselves. We were still on a cruise vacation so it was still a good time. The shows were okay. The food was okay. The stateroom was okay. Our experience was just okay. Meh...

Thanks all for your input. Like I said, this obviously wasn't the ship for us. I'm glad others had a better experience. Reading the most recent reviews I think I'm in the majority. Not the ship for active vacationers or those with kids. Just putting it out there so others can make an informed decision. I'm still a fan of RCCL and am looking forward to going on Ovation of the Seas next year!

That was a good truthful review and honest, look the reviews for the ship and your spot on. Don't work about feedback on your review unless your on purpose doing a negative cruise like saying nothing for kids to do on a Disney cruise.

I just got off this ship Saturday and had an opposite experience although I never dined in the main dining room so I cannot comment on that. The meals we had at Chops, Giovanni's and Chefs Table were some of the best I have ever had on RCCL. The only thing that happened to me was on Cozumel day I got run out of my room 3 times for balcony maintenance. I did complain about that and I received a 20% discount coupon on a future cruise. Fortunately I had booked a 7 day cruise on Harmony for just over $6k the day before so I think a $1200 discount more than made up for my inconvenience. When I first arrived on the ship I was somewhat disappointed in the design but as the days passed I actually enjoyed the design of the ship. I didn't have to deal with all the stupid shops being in the open with everyone blocking everything looking for "deals" on cigarettes and t shirts. Sorry your experience was not good as you would have liked it though.

Sorry you had a bad time. I had an awesome time. I thought the staff was awesome. I too asked for Diet Coke in the windjammer many many times and the bars and never once felt like a nuisance. The staff was quite nice. Actually the staff was amazing. Even on several occasions the staff would ask how our vacation was going. No cruise, no vacation is going to be perfect it’s only as perfect as you make it or want it to be. Don’t sweat the small things. I’ve been on the Brilliance two times and can’t wait to sail on her again.

I agree with you. You try to give a honest review and people get bashed. Thank you for being honest.
