Review summary

This was my first experience with Royal Caribbean. As a longtime cruiser, I have been on some of the most elegant ships in the world. Although quite large and overcrowded, Anthem of the Seas hearkened me back to the days of elegance and exceptional service that I had always been accustom to. I would highly recommend this ship.

Embarkation

The staff at the cruise terminal in Bayonne were quite rude and unfriendly. They treated us like herded cattle.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Our head waiter Godwin was magnificent. He took care of all of our special dietary needs. He would preview the next night's menu so we could pick out our meals ahead of time. Many times he and his staff provided off-menu items. He made our trip the most memorable cruise I have ever taken. Service was above and beyond.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
My family loved iFly. I especially enjoyed the trivia contests. The solarium is a must for anyone looking for peace and quiet.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We Will Rock You was out of this world. The comedians were also fun. We were not to fond of the magician. We also liked the game shows.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As I stated previously, our head waiter Godwin was over the top with customer service.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
More attention needs to be paid to routine cleaning of public spaces. The floor tiles need replacing in many places, especially in the elevators. Several of the elevators also had their artwork defaced.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was spacious and clean. The balcony was tight but very relaxing.

Ship tip

When you get on board, avoid the crowds and lines at the Windjammer and Two70 cafe. The Solarium Bistro was less crowed and had ample food. Try not to have a bulky carry-on (or have none at all). You will be waiting a long time for your stateroom to be ready. Lugging along a piece of luggage will get tiresome.

Disembarkation

Porter got us out and on our way in about a half hour.

Traveler Photos

We got a little silly with the photographer. Godwin: Head Waiter Extraordinaire!
