Review summary

3 generations of family members on spring break trip. This cruise was 2 years in the making due to the original cruise being cancelled a couple of times. I thought the health protocol was adequate but I really wish that everyone is required to be vaccinated. Even our 4-year old nephew was vaccinated because of his health condition; otherwise we would not have gone on this cruise. Unfortunately, we found out that my niece got COVID the day we got home and she likely got it from someone on the cruise (she spent a lot of time in the pool area with other kids). Luckily, she’s vaccinated and asymptomatic but we only knew that she had COVID because we all took a test after our trip so we can be clear to go back to work. Surprisingly, the rest of the family members’ results were negative.

Embarkation

Easy to follow but there was a long wait on folks who were just not prepared to show their test and vaccination records. We would watch them take forever to look through their phone to find these records.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We ate mainly in the main dining room, Windjammer and Sorrentos. Some of my family members ordered steak several nights and they were very over cooked even though the request was for medium. We loved the pizza at Sorrentos.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We participated in a lot of trivia, karaoke and fun fitness on the Promenade.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The ice show and water shows were excellent. We walked out at intermission for Mama Mia.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
My 4-year old loved the Aquanauts program but my daughter (11) and niece (8) refused to go back after the first time in their kids program. They said the other kids got out of hand and the instructors were not nice. Trust me, these girls are rule followers.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We loved our cabin steward, Head Waiter and Assistant Waiter. The entertainment staff was also great, especially the ones that did the trivia.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
We knew this ship was not amped up but still enjoyed it. We had the end balcony overlooking the Boardwalk and loved that our view of the water show and sea were not blocked by giant slides.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Perfect view of the water show and the sea.

Ship tip

Bring lots of cash. I thought I brought enough but did not realize that when we booked our own excursions at the port, they only took cash. I had to use the ship’s ATM which had a $6.95 fee and a separate fee from my own bank.

Ports of call

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

4 out of 5
We paid for a taxi to take us to the closest beach and paid for chairs and umbrellas. I know local folks were only trying to make some money but the same ladies kept stopping by our beach chairs to sell their wares even though we already said no thank you several times.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

4 out of 5
We only stopped by the port stores to look around.

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

3 out of 5
It seemed kind of dated and there were not great signage to show where to get to the right terminal. Our Lyft driver got lost even with GPS.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We did self assist and were out of the ship in less than 15 minutes.
