Review summary

We sailed with Allure in May of 2018 and had an incredible trip. We did the Western Caribbean cruise and had a balcony stateroom. Shows: We loved Mama Mia through and through. The cast was incredible. We typically see a lot of professional theatre at home and we were both so impressed. We left the comedy show early as we weren’t fully enjoying it and there’s so much else to do. It just wasn’t for us. The Newlywed game was entertaining and we laughed a lot. The Ice Show was monopoly themed and I’d give it a 3/5 stars as it was neat especially if you have kids but it didn’t blow me away. I was very excited to see people that were previously in line for the Olympics and i know that even former Olympian’s are known to join cruise shows but it was just Ok. The other smaller shows like the jazz music in the little venue downstairs and the live music in a different venue at the back of the ship were also highlights and we didn’t even reserve them (you can’t). Just check your cruise planner and show up 5 mins early and it’s totally a great way to spend your evening. Food: I paid extra for lobster one night in the MDR and the very next night it was included. Silly me! The MDR was nice and they kept us with the same waiter every night even though we did My Time Dining (flexible hours). They also moved our table a few times and we were never by a window. Our waiter was sexist although it was mostly funny to me. He never spoke to me, only to my boyfriend but he was so incredibly nice to him and he was a great server even assisting me to de-shell all of my shellfish. He just didn’t speak to me (LOL sorry not funny but somehow funny). He told my boyfriend about his children and his personal life and really seemed interested in my boyfriends life. And he always had our favorite cocktails waiting at the table when we arrived for dinner. We did the 3 night specialty dining and we never made it to breakfast in time so our experience in the MDR was a little limited. Specialty Dining: We visited 150 Central Park, Chop’s Grille & Giovanni’s Table. 150 Central Park was my favorite food-wise but it was the worst service-wise. We went there on the first night and we had a show to see in an hour but we weren’t even seen by a waiter until at least 30 mins in. We were so upset at the time but looking back we figured something was disorganized that night and honestly it happens. All of our specialty dining nights were special and delicious. Chops grille will always be a nice memory because we sat outside in the park and it was beautiful. They had a lavender cocktail that i still think about almost a year later! Our service was outstanding at Chops Grille but being carnivores from Texas was thought the steak was good but not the best we’d ever had. Service: our room staff was so efficient and friendly. He always called us by name (a great service technique that i love) when seeing us in the hall or out. Sometimes we got up late and he’d be lurking outside waiting to clean our room (haha i respect it!) and he would always try to help by saying “good morning! Don’t forget your card! ID! Sunscreen! Camera” Misc: we ate at Sorrentos multiple times a day every day. The food is good and always available. We spent most of our sea days either doing activities or in the Solarium. We tried to go to the main pool a few times and it was always SO CROWDED and sunny with no shade anywhere. Park Cafe has delicious coffee drinks and espresso. They also have paninis and omelette etc. We went there before excursions on port days when the Windjammer line was always so long for breakfast.
