Review summary

My husband and I cruised on the Allure of the Seas for our honeymoon. After going on 4 previous cruises with Royal Caribbean, this was by far the best experience. The ship itself is breathtaking! It was hard to believe the imagination and igenuity that were put into the creation of this vessel--there is an actual park in the middle of the ship, with live plants!!! Amazingly, we had intimate moments, despite the enormity of the ship. Also, if you are into specialty restaurants, it is defintely worth checking out other food options (for a fee). Otherwise, the free food is pretty good, except for the Windjammer Cafe which we detested. Beyond that, the entertainment is fantastic and our cruise director, Ken, was amazing (just be sure to book entertainment before the cruise OR on the 1st day since the popular shows sell out fast). The ports of call were all beautiful, but expensive. Honestly, we enjoyed the ship more than the destinations, but that's because we love to be on the water..And, we were lucky to have fairly calm seas. Overall, this was a great value for our money and we cannot wait to sail again with RC!!!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We loved the specialty restaurants\, but this is for folks who are willing to spend a nominal fee for a better food experience. My husband and I bought a package prior to the cruise and were so happy we did!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Entertainment options were abundant. Remember\, book shows prior to the cruise or on the 1st day. Otherwise\, you may not be able to see the more popular shows. FYI\, in some cases\, you can do the \"waiting list\" or Standing Room Only option by arriving 20-30 minutes prior to showtime. If there is room available\, you may get lucky without a reservation

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We thought the friendliness and service of the ship staff was excellent. (As a disclaimer\, we are from New York\, so our opionion may be skewed. Generally speaking\, we're used to people being \"rude\" in most instances LOL)

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
What can I say\, it's the largest ship in the world. Truly obvious that a lot of thought and detail went into every inch of this ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a balcony room and the size was better than other RC ships. The rooms are small (unless you're getting suite). But\, I suppose that is to be expected--afterall\, it is a ship. Our stateroom attendant was fabulous.

Pros: Extensive entertainment options\, specialty dining restaurants\, sheer beauty of the ship

Cons: Windjammer Cafe is not very good\, can be difficult to book certain shows\, sucks that we had to pay for nearly ALL drinks i.e. soft drinks\, smoothies\, bottled water
