Personally I would only purchase excursions locally after I’ve already been to that place via ship’s excursion and felt comfortable venturing out on my own to that same place. Some of them are pretty far away. I wouldn’t want to risk not being able to get back to the ship on time. The ship’s excursions will ensure that you will return on time every time. Anything close to port I would definitely try to get a deal on by buying locally.
