You can not book anything except dinner reaervations until you board the ship.

Yes, if you purchase The Key you will still need to make reservations once onboard for the shows you want to see.

I haven’t cruise since November of 2019. I was able to make all my reservations prior to boarding the ship. Some of the reservations were made by phone and I used the online tools. Not sure if things have change. I would call RC directly for the most updated information. I enjoyed the fact that when I boarded the ship, everything was scheduled.

We didn't reserve the Aqua Theater and were able to just walk in.

As soon as you can access the ship wifi. If you can get on it from the terminal, you can start booking via the app.
