Once you get to Port Everglades, it was smooth sailing. But the pre cruise adventure in Florida isn't worth it. Good thing the Adventure of the Seas also sails from Bayonne.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Took longer to get into the port complex than to get on the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Standard RC food and beverages. Although this time was better than the last cruise on Anthem.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Have to take off a 🌟 because ice skating was only available on the last day?. Flowrider and pools were good but didn't try the slides.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
All the shows were good and there was live music all over the ship.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Have to say always top notch service. It would be too petty to take off a star for the 1 crew member who didn't have the positive energy for this sailing.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
It's been a while since sailing on a Voyager class ship. I will say that the changes on the sports deck with the flowrider and perfect storm slides and on the Royal Promenade by adding Izumi and the integration of Ben and Jerry's into the Cafe Promenade are good changes. I can't wait to see the changes after it goes in for it's $100M amplification. The ship is already great and looks it. You'd be hard pressed to tell the ship is nearly 20 years old.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
5 studio cabins were added during last drydock. Replaced the screening room on deck 2. Even though I knew exactly (in my head) where it was, trying to find the cabin was a bit challenging. It's behind the old box office desk that's still there. Very easy to find cabin after that.
Ship tip
Tip#1 Take the behind the scenes your and just marvel at the scale of everything it takes to give us a great vacation. Tip#2 Sailing from Bayonne is probably a better choice.
Overslept, so it took a bit longer than it could have. However less than 1hour from leaving the cabin to the gate at FLL airport. Customs, taxi and security. I think that's a win.
Getting into the port was longer than usual because Dec 1 was the record number of passengers to ever board ships (9 of them) in Port Everglades in a single day 56,000+. It wasn't bad, just longer than usual, still gave embarkation 5 stars. Since I used a popular website to book hotel, they took care of the issues.
We have taken port everglades cruise line and 3rd party transfers from airport to ship to airport with no incidents or delays. Also we have taken hotel pre and post cruise stays and found that the hotels do an excellent job working with cruise line schedules. Can you describe in more detail the problem you encountered so others know what to avoid at port everglades? Really glad you enjoyed the cruise and did not let travel to embarkation or the one staff member spoil a great vacation.
Just came from there on Thursday, and the embarkation was actually smoother than my experience in Bayonne. Maybe you came at a peak time? Disembarking was a bit of a mess, but I expected it with an older port. Nice that the few negatives didn't deter you enjoying your cruise.
Not sure what happened when you were there, but we sailed on Adventure a few weeks ago and had no issues in Ft Lauderdale. Took a Lyft from Embassy Suites at 10:45, took about 15 min from the hotel, through the security gates and to the ship, then less than 10 min from dropping or bag until we were on the ship.
