Disappointing New Zealand Cruise by dhartley2228755

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Elizabeth

As stated above, this cruise was very disappointing. Obviously Cunard cannot control the weather. But they are responsible for customer relations, which has fallen to new lows. Will not cruise with Cunard again until a significant improvement is guaranteed.

10 Night Queensland by gallopinggoose

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Majestic Princess

This was a relaxing 10 day Queensland cruise with beautiful scenery and the opportunity to interact with a ton of wildlife. The ship didn't feel full so it was easier to get an elevator or a seat in a common area. Guests and crew were respectful, patient, and friendly. We were really delayed leaving Brisbane, but the crew managed to make up all lost time. Overall, I would highly recommend this cruise, especially if you're okay with lots of sea days.

It was a wonderful cruise on a great ship. We were very disappointed that we had to miss the port of Dunedin and cruising through the Milford and Dusky sounds due to weather. Seeing the sounds were the main reason that we chose this cruise. by cwerneke

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

We had a great time on Ovation. The ship was beautiful and clean. Staff and crew were absolutely first rate. The only thing we were disappointed with was not being able to see the Sounds. Royal Caribbean could not help that and it was only for our safety.

Great ship, disappointing ports of call by mcorgel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Edge

The change in the itinerary made many plans including one that was most important, snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef impossible. While there is no way to predict bad weather, the times that we were in port made it impossible to rearrange our plans and there were no available packages to book through the cruiseline. There was a great deal of time lost in getting off the ship when the ports were tendered which cut into the time we had available to do things in port.

It was a nice trip. Weather was a bit disappointing, and the food in the main dining room was disappointing. Other than that. Excellent trip.

Once we got on board, we were very pleased for the entire trip. The extra days in Sydney after the cruise were very worthwhile.

Before the Mast by weewander

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Volendam

New Zealand's 10 ports were quickly boring. Enjoyed Australia much more, and the Pacific Islands are ever romantic. Better and shorter cruise with only 2 NZ ports and Dili vice Komodo.

This was our first "long" cruise. We did learn that 30-45 day cruise would fit us better.

Wonderful Trip of a Lifetime by sallyreed

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Viking Orion

While we've done a Viking river cruise, this was our first Viking ocean cruise. Ships are lovely, and we enjoy the smaller size and lower number (about 900) of passengers. Food and service are excellent. Staff are well trained, friendly, and professional. The atmosphere is quiet, subdued, and somewhat intellectual with more focus on lectures/learning than entertainment. The average age of clientele is 70+ with few exceptions. No matter whether lecture, shore-talk, or vocal concert, passengers flock to the theater early with good seats a premium. Included tours (one at each stop) were generally disappointing bus rides around the city with the driver trying to also serve as tour-guide. Having only been on one previous Viking trip, we were unable to get access to the other tours that sold-out to more tenured Viking guests. This is the pecking order for booking excursions and specialty dining. I wouldn't rule out another Viking ocean voyage, but it was a mixed-bag for me.

Great cruise by wpxia

It’s a great cruise though the weather wasn’t good but we did have a good time. Staffs are helping and nice. Unlucky we couldn’t visit few cities due to bad weather.

The ports were amazing, the cruise ship, not so much. by seanslaughter

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Spirit

The ports were amazing! The best I've ever been too. Was upset that Tasmania Australia was cancelled prior to boarding and that Wellington, NZ was cancelled while we were on the ship. We basically had 4 sea days in a row, which is crazy. The ship is well designed and has great staff but the entertainment is up and down. The speciality restaurants were very good but the main buffet can be hit or miss. And the ship can be very boring for kids and teens, as they don't have a dedicated kid or teen club. Overall we enjoyed our trip and again, the ports were INCREDIBLE.
