One cannot really see the wonders of Chilean archepeligoes without a ship, and what more luxorious way to do so than on the Sojourn. Thanks to everyone for organizing and helping the passengers realize such a magical experience.

Exceptional Area of the World by DavidC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Veendam / Destination: South America

The Veendam is a great ship; small enough to be quaint, but large enough to be able to move around. Holland did a great job on most things. The hardest part of this cruise, however, was that we were way outside of Holland's demographic. We're in our 30s, but the average age of the folks on the ship was 65+. Many people were in wheelchairs and had walkers -- this is fine, but it changed our experience quite a bit on board. We aren't huge party animals or anything like that, but it was a change for us. That said, we chose this cruise not for the onboard experience but for the part of the world we were seeing (southern South America). THIS was fantastic, and because this ship is small, we were really able to get up close, especially to glaciers. The excursions were better than expected (albiet pricey), but they were worth every penny.

Not comparable to other cruise lines by ST27704338

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Fortuna / Destination: South America

Food, attentiveness of staff, decor, accessibility to English language were all poor. This cruise line can not compare to Princess, Holland America, or Royal Carribean.

Wonderful Adventure by DaveP2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Xpedition / Destination: South America

Perfect ship for this type of adventure cruise. Recognize that the venue is the entertainment so don't expect same options as on large regular cruise ships

Just another typical cruise by DavidM40

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: South America

just below average They lost by luggage taking it off the ship and placing it on the dock in Rio de Janeiro. They said that it could take 4-6 weeks to find, and if they found it, I would have to pay to get my suitcase shipped to my home.

Seabourn exceeds high expectations! by Dave764049982

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Seabourn Sojourn / Destination: South America

The Seabourn Sojourn is a well designed small ship (450 passengers) with outstanding artwork throughout the ship. Excellent food, service, and entertainment contribute to the overall experience. Staff was always eager to please by positively responding to special requests.

Super cruise by Sueb111

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pacific Princess / Destination: South America

The ship was a bit small for the turbulence we encountered in the Atlantic, but we're assuming it couldn't be bigger cruising the Amazon. We were very disappointed in the food. Too much fish and not many other selections. The cordon bleu was particularly tasteless and almost inedible. But the service was excellent. The Amazon itself and the experiences on it were wonderful.

Infinity Repositioning cruise by SeasonedC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Infinity / Destination: South America

We love to cruise and this repositioning cruise and port selection were very good. Overall, we really enjoyed the cruise and the ship was in very good condition due to it just coming out of dry dock. Dinner buffet selection was very poor. Same selection each night. Sit down dinner was good. Every night there was a steak selection. Two nights there was a Ribeye and then Prime Rib. Other nights was some type of sirloin steak selection which is a very cheap and poor cut of meat; very disappointing. Princess Lines really out performed with their food selection. Stateroom was very nice. We had the Concierge option with the room. Entertainment was very poor. One night Chris Riggins performed. He was an outstanding singer. Other nights were stupid magic tricks or staff performers that tried their best. Sorry to say, we did give each performer a chance, but generally we left before the program was over. Saw many do the same. The timing of sit down dinner and the first show was too close together. We had select dinning which started at 5:30pm. The first show was at 07:00. Dinner generally lasted two hours. A few nights we skipped desert so we could make the show. Many night we should have stayed for desert! So, our thought, would we take a Celebrity Cruise again? Maybe not. Princess Lines was is ahead of Celebrity with food and entertaining. However, it was an enjoyable time away from the daily grind back at home.

A Great Cruise by StuS1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Infinity / Destination: South America

We departed Valparaiso on March 13 for 14 days. This was our 13th cruise but first with Celibrity. The ship was somewhat tired but is going to dry-dock in November. The food was great in the dining room and the buffets, definately better than other big ship cruise lines. Entertainment was good but typical for a cruise ship. The ship was not crowded even though it was sold out and appreciated the availability of deck chairs. The service level was excellent with the crew friendly and very helpful. The average age of the passenger was probably 60 to 75 which meant the entertainment was geared accordingly.
