Review summary
The Veendam is a great ship; small enough to be quaint, but large enough to be able to move around. Holland did a great job on most things. The hardest part of this cruise, however, was that we were way outside of Holland's demographic. We're in our 30s, but the average age of the folks on the ship was 65+. Many people were in wheelchairs and had walkers -- this is fine, but it changed our experience quite a bit on board. We aren't huge party animals or anything like that, but it was a change for us. That said, we chose this cruise not for the onboard experience but for the part of the world we were seeing (southern South America). THIS was fantastic, and because this ship is small, we were really able to get up close, especially to glaciers. The excursions were better than expected (albiet pricey), but they were worth every penny.Ship experiences

Pros: The ports-of-call had excellent excursions and South America/Cape Horn was great
