It was fun by RedondoBeacher

Ship: Carnival Inspiration / Destination: Mexico

Not sure of the most favorite, but it had been about 30 years since I'd been to Ensenada and Catalina.  It was very enjoyable, we went with another couple so we shared the experiences of the winery tour and inland Catalina.  The only thing missing was the Lobster dinner at dress up night. It was available for a $20 premium.

Cruising with carnival by Lorenamv3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Imagination / Destination: Mexico

Service from our chamber maid and the comedy show with  Doug Williams was the best part of our cruise. Over all the cruise was very enjoyable. The food buffet and dining service on occasion was horrible. Cold or had HAIR in it. I even had a waiter ignore me, the bus boy took our order, never the less he was well compensated.

Wonderful get away for the person who never has enough time.  Just right to recharge. The staff was friendly. The ship had a variety of activities to accommodate everyone's taste.   I will definitely do this trip again.

Nice Getaway by Esjer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Imagination / Destination: Mexico

This was a great cruise for a quick getaway.  We had a great time in Catalina, renting a golf cart and exploring the area.  Lots of beautiful vistas for photo ops.  Have lunch on the waterfront, it's beautiful and the food was good.  In Ensenada we took the wine tour, what a treat!  I had no idea Mexico produced wine!  We were pleasantly surprised at the depth of the tour and the quality of the wine.  We brought some home!  On the boat we participated in the "Chefs Table" dinner.  It was really good, but it was too long.  They served the appetizers in the kitchen which was "un-appetizing".  The rest of the dinner was great.  However, because of the length, we could not attend the show we had anticipated going to that evening.  Things on the boat that need improvement:  When walking on the deck, there were a lot of dirty plates on tables that sat a long time before being picked up.  Not very nice to sit by....

Excellent Cruise! by SurfCityDoc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Mexico

I really enjoyed this cruise and ship.  This was my 20th cruise on multiple cruise lines.  The staff was very friendly and professional.  The Kids Club was the best I've seen, including Disney.  Food pretty good.

The staff and ship was great. The entertainment was lacking. We have been on several cruises and always love the shows and games but this time it just wasn't up to par. Still had a great time and met lots of new friends!!Love

Beautiful Ship by McGregor

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Miracle / Destination: Mexico

The cruise ship is a smaller ship and is very nice.  Our room was 8235 which is a large balcony room.  It was very roomy with am extra large balcony.  There are only a few on the ship this size, so look at a ship deck plan to pick them out.  The extra money is worth it.  Deck 2 is the action deck.  There are several entertainment venues.  The sports bar is impressive.  Another bar has a live band nightly.  There are several small bars and piano bars.  There is plenty of space to relax everywhere and enjoy a beverage.  The casino is on deck 2 also and is very roomy and despite smoking still being allowed tolerable.  There is a larger theater for live performances and a separate comedy club.

The live performance were energetic and were based on musical genre themes.  The 60's beach era, the 80s, and a salute to Motown.  Very energetic 7 person troupe.  The comedy club had 2 comedians for the first half of the trip and then 2 new ones on the 2nd half of the trip.  Except for one night comedians perform several shows from PG to R.  No show is a repeat.  I found the comedy to be very good.

The pool areas were nice.  It was a bit cool on the trip and not as crowwed as they might be.  There is an adult only pool area, but it is not large and fills easily.  It provides hammocks and little clam shelters to relax in.  And not this-a hot tob that is hot.  A general pool area actually has a dome it can close which made it feel warmer on cool days.

Now the food.  The Lido on deck 9 had a continuous flow of buffet food and pizza.  During the day Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chicken, and Nachos were available near the pool.  The buffet has sever well signed stations.  Each with different themed food.  I found the selection good and the food was good.  Breakfast with eggs to order was good.  The Bachus dining room on deck 2 and 3 served the more formal meals.  Breakfast from the menu was very good.  The orange juice tastes fresh squeezed in the dining room.  Which had 'My Time' dining the first 2 nights then were able to switch to early seating.  I found service a bit strange.  Several times an appetizer and a salad or soup were put in front of me at the same time.  I have never experienced that on a cruise.  It seems a bit rushed.  Typically, only 1 fork was on the the table setting.  The waiter told me to keep it for the next serving.  I'm not a snob, but I expect better from a ship.  At our assigned table we had a waiter and 2 assistants.  Sometimes one of the assistants did the waiting on the table.  It seemed a bit unusual..  Although never pushed hard it seemed that dinners were rushed.  I found the food average at best.  My 4 star instead of 5 is because of the dining room experience.

There are lots of activities each day on the cruise that we don't participate in.  We like to relax during the day.  There were 3 stops.  Strangely we stopped a Cabo  two times.  We got off the ship (tendered) once for a short tour of tourist area.  Very clean.  Puerto Vallarta is stop 2 and we took a tour arranged through Carnival.  Had a very good time.  The tour was a tequila factory and Old Town tour.  Would recommend.

To summarize:  We liked the ship, its size, layout, entertainment opportunities, and our room.  Buffet dining was good.  Dining room dining suspect.  Just a note.  The dress code doesn't exist on this ship.  Don't pack your tux unless you like that sort of thing.  You may be the only one.  There are plenty of photographers on board.

Ensenada in February by NurseCruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Imagination / Destination: Mexico

We booked a room on level 4 (R) which was great for us...not a lot of wave action. The stateroom was a good size for 2 friends with a nice window for full moon exposure.  Beautiful.  The drapes were a bit on the old side and didn't close properly but we left them open in case something fantastic passed by.  Did see a cruise ship or two. The dining room food and service was excellent.  The buffet was good, too unless you are a picky eater with temperature variations of the food and the bacon was really greasy.  The wines offered with the dinners were great and you need to have a Chipotle Pineapple Margarita.  Awesome. February is not the best time to plan a trip to Ensenada, at least not this year.  We had a sunny day and then a foggy day where we just sat around with our friends and chatted.  Too many almost forced photo intrusions.  One or two would be nice but a lot of photos are too many. Embarking, Debarking, Ensenada, Pirates, Dinner, with the Aztecs, etc.  Eduardo, our head waiter and I Made, head waiter for 1 night were excellent. One of the staff members, Cameron, (I think) brought me a new lip balm when I had lost mine and couldn't find it anywhere on the floor.  Had only been missing 3 minutes but you must have the fastest sweepers in the west because it was GONE.  Bed was comfortable and had 2 different types of pillows so you could find the one that worked best.  Boarding wasn't bad, but debarking was horrible.  There were staff members to guide people but they weren't doing that.  Every time the elevator doors opened, they would disgorge more people who did not really know they were cutting into the wait line when they immediately got in.  There were people already waiting but the line was invisible around the corner.  There should be stancions with guide barriers.  When we asked the staffers for help, one just said whe you get off, get in line.  They were already doing that, but in the wrongs places.  It was very frustrating.  Still, all in all I would do it again and just tell you to watch for problems before they arrive so the trip will be better.

Amazing 3 Day Getaway - First Time Cruiser by ron85325900

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Imagination / Destination: Mexico

Carnival Imagination was a great ship, but the crew, food and entrrtainment is what makes it amazing! You are treated like kings and queens from the moment you check-in and embark until the moment you disembark.  Dinio introduced himself as the caretaker of our stateroom (he kept impeccable) and the maker of our amazing towel animals each night!  The Hotel Director, Guna, introduced himself at dinner and gave generously of his time to make sure we were taking advantage of all the ship had to offer! Bravo Carnival! Your Imagination team are the staff and crew most companies dream to have as ambassadors of their brand!!! We will be back soon!!!  Our wine tour in Mexico was top-notch, and the whole process was just perfect!

Azamara is Amazing! by OneFlesh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Quest / Destination: Mexico

We've cruised 3 times with Azamara and each has been great.

The friendliness of the staff and crew and excellence of service make this memorable. This was a special Valentine cruise for my wife and I celebrating our marriage. We enjoyed every minute. Once you do an Azamara cruise you will have a hard time settling for anything else.

Unorganized cruise by hamfam1113

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Inspiration / Destination: Mexico

The cruise itself was good with some exceptions, despite receiving a 1:00pm check in to board the ship, we waitied for over 3.5 hours in the rain. When asked , the staff said that check in times meant nothing really! Very disappointed!  I had been On this ship, 2  years ago and the very same shows were being performed, it made the evening entertainment very dull!  The food was ok, but NOT the same quality as 2 years ago!  I had to pay $20.00 for a Lobster Tail!  While it was good, it's always been included in the cost!  All in all! I think I'm going have to return to Royal Caribbean Lines!

Poor Embarkation and overall experience by catatonic

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Inspiration / Destination: Mexico

the embarkation at long beach was a total joke.  We had an assigned check in time that was useless.  it was first come first served.  The lines were very long and the crew members were barking orders like drill sergeants in boot camp.  We've been on numerous cruises with a variety of cruise lines and this was by far the worst experience that we have had.

The food was mediocre and the entertainment on board likewise.

Our cabin steward was excellent and helped make the cruise tolerable.

Incredibly Lame by saracrull

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Inspiration / Destination: Mexico

This ship and all its furnishings need immediate updating.  2000 passengers forced to wait in line, outdoors, in rain, cold and wind for 3 hours to board the ship.  Cold food and guests wearing t-shirts and baseball caps  in main dining room on "elegant night".  Hard bed and scratchy towels.  Every thing for sale on the ship was either overpriced or cheap junk.  The "duty free shop" has never heard of Amazon.  Won't be sailing with carnival again.

Catalina/ Baja Mexico Cruise by Makeit28

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

Everything was incredible. The food was great. The only thing that I not  like was the attitude of one of waiters from the Pride Dinning room. It was a great cruise over all.

excellent destination and the entertainment by hyon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Mexico

We loved the port of calls and enjoyed the entertainment.

However, the theater was too small to accommodate all people, every night you had to go there at least half an hour to get a seat.

Terrific Trip! by Arizonian

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Mexico

The cruise met almost all of our expectations - The only improvement I could see were in the food choices at dinner especially and also one day at the buffet.  My husband and I eat different types of food and we enjoy them. Our friends who traveled with us didn't have as many choices and they are not willing to take a risk with food. One day on the buffet it was mostly Indian food - hot and spicy.

could be better by trofejones

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Mexico

Overall the ship was good, and the staff was generally excellent.  This ship has no cover over either swimming pool which limits use of these areas in cool or wet weather, a definite 'minus' for me.  The food portions in the dining room was generally too small for the men at the table.   The ceaseless 'sales' going on was quite 'pushy' by the staff, hard to relax with someone endlessly extolling the virtues of this that and the other product.

The 'SHARE' specialty restaurant was beginning to end, simply outstanding, I'd recomment it to everyone. Could be made clearer that this is a semi pre-fix menu comprising six (6) courses...of really interesting food. loved it...
