Cruise Review by sandrascarnato

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Riviera / Destination: Europe

The cruise was amazing! Food was as eating at a four star restaurant every evening, but wonderful due to no jacket required for the guys.   Was wonderful waking up at a new destination every morning.  The ship with its amazing spa and work out facilities were amazing as well. My first cruise the staff on board was very friendly and efficient.  Only thing I would say was the air travel could be improved. Would probably look into booking on my own next time.  But my wonderful travel agent Glen walked me through everything, being my first time had no idea what to do, couldn't have done it without him.  Will definitely be calling on Glen again for future bookings.  Trip of a lifetime 😎🍸

Cruise Experience & Ratings by bonsai198937

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

I've had a great time but just a little note that it would have been an excellent 7 day cruise if only if it wasn't too cold and it would also been so much better if the excursions were much longer and more time to explore every Scandinavian countries. Almost every excursions except for Estonia were short and I felt like I was more of a tourist instead of a traveler. On top of that the staff were very friendly and the food were very delicious.

Princess Mediterranean Cruise has great ports by JeannieM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Europe

We enjoyed this Princess cruise primarily because of the great variety of ports included, from Barcelona, Gilbraltar, several in Italy including Sicily, and Greece, including Mykonos and ending in Athens. It was quite hectic because there were only two sea days in 14 nights so there was always a new place to see. Princess has good, reliable service and they are well organized and care about their cruisers. We wish the dining menu at the traditional dining venue had been more varied and exciting, but service was good. The cabin with balcony was nice and we sat out on balcony several times to enjoy the sights and good weather.

What a spectacular time in the Mediterranean!!! by pixzeechic

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This was our first Princess Cruise and our second Mediterranean cruise. (Our first was with Disney). I must say Disney set the bar very high so going into this cruise we had lower expectations but Princess is our new favorite. For starters the ship is gorgeously maintained and elaborately decorated. They overall feel is very upscale from the stunning piazza area to the violinist and piano players are multiple decks to the oak trim and subtle lighting. We are hard to impress but we were! The food in the specialty dinning restaurants was superb! (We could have eaten every meal at the Crown grill just for their steaks and selection of salts!) The cabana couple's retreat message was the best we've ever had. We loved the free pop corn and swirl ice cream while watching movies under the stars on the pool deck. It was magical! The high tea on board was awesome! The specialty coffee card was worth every penny!

The salon service was amazing! The laundry facility was very helpful.

As for the ports of call, we were pleased overall with every stop with the exception of Catagena Spain. It was very boring and could easily be replaced with someplace offering more options but who can complain while on holiday in the Mediterranean right? We just felt for such a small cruise (7 days is not a lot) that time would have been spent better at another stop or extend the Gibraltar stop so we have the option to visit Morocco.

The only cons we could say was the food in the buffet was hit or miss and the staff in the child care facilities were less than friendly but we are definitely going on another Princess cruise overall it was fabulous.

Scandinavian Cruise by HarryNomad

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

The destination was fabulous, the trip of a lifetime. Copenhagen was a wonderful city to explore and Tallinn, Estonia was our favorite port. We hadn't been on Royal Caribbean for several years, the last ship being the Allure of the Seas, but found this ship to be a good size, very clean and updated. The Windjammer breakfast buffet was excellent, I've never seen so many options for breakfast before on any other ship. It was unfortunately very crowded on port days, it was difficult to find a table. They even made an announcement that if you were finished with your breakfast to please leave so others could enjoy theirs. The lunch and dinner options in the Windjammer café were also very good. The cruise director Topi was very friendly and talented and really set the tone for an enjoyable time. While I don't spend a lot of time in the cabin, it would be nice if there were more TV channels to watch. The same show episodes were played over and over again the entire week. Embarkation and Debarkation were very organized and ran smoothly. All the shows started precisely on time. I would definitely sail with Royal Caribbean again.

A marvalous vacation by diephuis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

Mykonos was beautiful as were the views in all the ports.

Rhapsody of the Seas is an older vessel with not as much to do on board as some of the newer ones but was a perfect size for the ports we were in. We went into port every day but the last one so not having much to do on ship was OK with us.

The dining staff we had for dinner was top notch. Everything we had on board was great. We had the 'pick your own time' dinner. We went the same time every night  except one and had the same staff each night. Well worth trying to get the same ones so they get to know you and what you like.

Entertainment wasn't as great as on the larger ships, but was still good.

A little disappointed with Argistoli, the Mesilea (sp) cave was not as great as it was built up to be. The Mythos beach was gorgeous though the bus ride to it was a little scary.

Greek Cruise by pd116

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

The Rhapsody is a beautiful ship. It's midsized so it's easy to find your way around it. The crew were all very pleasant. Only problem the first night we had a very uncomfortable mattress and had to wait till the next next day for a new one.

The ports were all beautiful! Especially liked Corfu and Kotor. The Acropolis is Athens was amazing and the blue and white houses in Mykonos were lovely!

Some of the shore excursion tour guides were really awful but I think that's the luck of the draw.

Overall, wonderful experience. Don't miss trying the local cuisine. It's delicious!

Dining and Entertainment by camucz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Dining experience has been average on this ship, especially compared with other cruises we have done on NCL and Carnival. It is very difficult to find a table around breakfast and lunch time. We were moved to a different table on main dinning and was asked to move again the 2nd night. One of us had hair in the soup. Food is very average and generally tastes just ok

Gives A Taste Of Multiple European Cities by roywinters6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We like cruising.  There is no hauling baggage from place to place, food, entertainment, friendly staff and social activities abound.  You only get a taste of places you stop at though, as you always need to keep in mind getting back to your ship early in the day (usually around dusk).

This ship is one of the best, though its age shows here and there.  Medium size (with ~2,400 Passengers), it was clearly designed with engaging and entertaining the passengers in mind.  I would judge the majority of passengers as older on this 12 day cruise.

A bit on the down side.  They really try to sell you a lot of stuff on this ship.  There is an extra (and substantial) charge to use their "specialty" restaurants, drinks (particularly alcoholic), laundry and any other services (such as skin care, massage & such. There is plenty of food included in the price of admission which makes these extras optional).  The on board shops lean toward jewelry, perfumes, art and the like, most expensive.   We also miss the ice and chocolate sculptures, and carved fruits/vegetables that we have seen on previous cruises.

All in all, I could recommend this ship and this cruise.  I want to go again.

Nice overview.me by Marylander

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Getaway / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This cruise visits a nice variety of ports but is more of an overview than I expected.

despite booking ship sponsored tours, we got less than expected for our time and investments.

The ship sponsored tour of the Peterhoff in St Petersburg was terrible. We had about 23 minutes in the palace due to long lines and a few other problems that could have been prevented. The guide was terrible, never adding any meaningful history or details. She did not make an effort to schedule bathrooms into the day (there are none on the bus) so people were left running off on their own to find a rest room on their own. It delayed the group and led to confusion and frustration. Many, many people were unhappy. When I complained at the ship tour desk he said he found it hard to believe and was not at all helpful or responsive. I told him I did not expect any refund but wanted him to understand and act to assist future tours of this site. He was totally dismissive. We heard at dinner that another guide had called the bus company to get an extra hour added to their tour due to the delays. We got zero time to shop or use toilets and zero reaction from Norwegian about our bad experience. We felt ripped off, to say the least.

Tour to Hermitage was much better.

Good NCL cruise experience again by ecmt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Getaway / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

After a disastrous NCL cruise on Epic in Jan 2013, I basically lost faith in NCL all together after 12 NCL cruises.  My friend found this very reasonable Baltic cruise last November on Getaway and asked us to join them.  I gave NCL another chance to see if there is an improvement in four years.  Glad I did.  Embarkation and disembarkation was a breeze instead of a nightmare on Epic four years ago.  Weather was good over all, especially at St. Petersburg; highlight of this cruise.  Service at sit down restaurants was slower than before.  Paid specialty restaurants are down to one item of each category.  Our cruise consultant, Harry, is great.  Will book our NCL Panama Canal cruise next year with him again.

Birthday Cruise by bruce22lf

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Getaway / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

The crew were very friendly and attentive throughout the cruise. Our steward was fantastic. The food was very good with plenty of choices to satisfy any appetite. The water pressure for the shower could be improved. The only shore excursion booked through cruise line for Sweden was fair. Would recommend the ship dock in Stockholm instead of Gothenburg, Sweden. Then on board entertainment was very enjoyable.Big SmileLoveBig Smile

very good by lianren

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Getaway / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Shore excursion is my favorite part, but I did not choose the shore excursion plan offered by ship, because it is more expensive  than local tour agency. Another thing I think you need to improve. I did not receive my account balance letter that should be sent to me before disembarkation.Could you please send to me by email? thanks.

Baltic Cruise by knobs98

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Getaway / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

The cruise ship was great as well as the food. The only problem was the ports of call. We did not have the time to enjoy the cities as the ship docked far away from

the towns and cruise directors were in such a hurry to get us back to the ship.  I will not be taking another cruise as we really didn't enjoy the program.  We have taken a VikingRiver Cruise and that was so much better as the boat was able to stop near towns and we really got a taste of the countries we visited.  You needed to have more entertainment and less selling of certain products....over done by my standards

Food and entertainment was great, very well organized.

The only part of the cruise that was not good was the music!! The average age of patrons was over 60, WHY ARE YOU PLAYING MUSIC THAT IS NOT AGE APPROPRIATE....AND THERE AS NOWHERE TO GO TO AVOID THE LOUD MUSIC!!

Great itinerary and service. by nowilliams

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

This was our first time sailing with Oceania and we had a great time.  The highlight of the cruise was the overnight in Bordeaux, France--the city is beautiful by day and magical at night.  The Nautica is an older ship that is in need of updating.  The service by the staff is absolutely top of the line.  The overall food experience was very good, but not the wow experience that we were expecting.  Tuscano, one of the two specialty restaurants, was most excellent, but Polo was below expectations.  Two of us at our table had to send food back for being overly salty and one other person had two badly cooked steaks in a row.  If you are looking for good evening entertainment, choose another cruise line.  We will gladly sail Oceania again because of their smaller ship itineraries--if the price is right.  But we've had better food and entertainment on Celebrity.
