Beautiful Alaskan Cruise! by janellecrandell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Our Celebrity Solstice cruise to Alaska was wonderful. We were astounded by the scenery, especially the Misty Fjords and Glacier. I would highly recommend an Alaskan cruise.

Fantastic Cruise to Alaska by TXSpaceGirl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was the trip of a lifetime for our family. The excursions we picked were all excellent and we learned so much about the wildlife, history, and environment of Alaska. It was worth every penny that we spent on the trip!

Solid cruise to Alaska by freychris424

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This cruise was a good value. The on-board musical entertainment is top notch, vastly exceeded expectations. We had rough seas the first day, which made for a bad start to the cruise since my wife was sick for the first two days, but once you get into the inland passage it's very calm seas and we were able to enjoy several wonderful excursions. The food was decent, lots of opinions for the buffet style, but the sit-down dinning options aren't very vegetarian friendly on this ship. I'd recommend this ship and itinerary to my friends if they have a smaller travel budget, it was a good value for what you pay for.

Majestic Mountains and Beautiful Glaciers by desmithphd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

As with other cruise lines, Carnival is in to retail selling - mostly a distraction. I wish cruise line would make wi-fi free for all! It's to expensive for most travelers - we were constantly checking emails and messages at the ports and going back to airplane mode while sailing.

A Bucket List Cruise to Alaska by spert

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The scenery in Alaska is magnificent. Although the Jewel doesn't have all the bell and whistles that the newer mega-ships have, it has everything needed for a fun cruise. The crew was very friendly and helpful.

Great Family Cruise vacation! by arulona

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Having grandkids traveling with us, we were a little worried about the norovirus on the ship. But due to the great staff and service workers we were very happy. The ship was great, a lot of entertainment, activities, etc., but most of all we were so lucky to have great weather all through the cruise.

Spectacular Alaska scenery. by Sbole4

Fantastic excursions and scenery . The trip up Tracy Arm Fjord was the highlight of the cruise. Watching the Captain rotate the ship 180 degrees in the narrow fjord right below the glacier was amazing.

Graduation Trip by cestyring

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The waiter serving dinner had 18 people. A table of 10 kept ordering drinks so he was constantly getting their drinks. Our dinner always took over 2 hours. I do not blame the waiter but do blame his boss for not seeing what was happening and providing him with some support.

Make note of the ship's gift shop hours the last day. Saturday you head into Victoria and it will close much earlier than expected. It will not reopen. by THill1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The boat is older, but having been refurbished recently, it is very nice. We loved the layout of the room and the bathroom. The stateroom steward was awesome, as well as the rest of the staff. Everyone was very nice and always had a smile :) The only complaint was the food...mainly the buffet. It was way too cramped and it was very difficult to find a place a sit. We ate in the dining room most days. That food was a little better. We didn't love the dessert choices either. That was my only complaint all week though. The cruise to Alaska and up Glacier Bay was one of the best my husband and I have ever taken. I would recommend it to anyone, on this, or any other boat!!! Breathtaking views and amazing tours offered. Just a fantastic time!

Beautiful Scenary, but .... by DeaconRick

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Infinity / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

There was a ship-wide LBGT "pride" event with everyone "expected" to take part - including a march from the theater to the event site that one had to take to leave the entertainment venue. As a religious person, I was offended that it was the largest event on the cruise. Of course, an LGBT person would have been thrilled. The cruise line just needs to inform passengers of such events so they have a choice.

Alaska was beautiful; the Bliss was far from blissful. by atking315

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We usually cruise with Carnival. We love cruising with Carnival, but decided to give Norwegian a try due to the face that the Bliss had new and exciting things to offer. The disappointments began immediately upon embarkation with NCL and did not improve throughout the cruise. We have all agreed to never cruise NCL again and will share this information with anyone we meet who is planning on cruising. The staff were extremely rude. The service was below par. The entire family was disappointed with NCL and the Bliss. We have never had a bad cruise with Carnival, especially not a cruise that we regret taking!! Alaska was supposed to be a once in a lifetime trip for everyone. While the state of Alaska itself was beautiful, that beauty was definitely overshadowed by the terrible Norwegian experience. Carnival Cruise Line will without a doubt get my vacation money from now on.

Fantastic Alaskan cruise by tprand424

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Eurodam / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

You can't go wrong with an Alaskan cruise. The Eurodam is a great choice, as it has a covered pool so you can actually go swimming when it is cooler and raining outside. The ship is in immaculate condition, and the changes from drydock were obvious (still could smell fresh carpet and paint). Each room has a large library of free ondemand movies to watch, free fruit, a bathtub in the bathroom. The entertainment on Eurodam is sparse, but what they do offer is top notch. Keep in mind that you don't want to use Holland America if you are into the party scene, the cruise ship was fairly quiet. The kids program wasn't the most organized, but the kids still enjoyed it, especially the Xbox room.

Wedding Anniversary Bliss Cruise by tucsonjim1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Our Aft Balcony room 12312 was not as large as some of the other Aft Balcony Rooms. One had to step aside for another person walking around. There is a similar situation walking down the hallways when there are two wide bodies passing each other. Our balcony had room for two chairs and a small table but not enough for lounge chairs. Other balconies had more room. Our balcony view allowed 180 degree view the entire trip. The view was spectacular when traveling to and from the glacier. Our first meal was at the main dining room, the Manhattan. Service was good but similar to other large dining venues. We ate the rest of our meals at either of the smaller dining rooms Savor and Taste. The food choice was the same as the Manhattan and they were right across the hall from each other with the Mixx bar in between. We are early eaters so we went to whichever dining room opened first. The staff rotated between each restaurant. The ship's buffet, the Garden Cafe, had a larger choice of food but we preferred the sit-down service of Savor and Taste. One does not tend to eat as much as a buffet. Suggestion for eating at the buffet; leave someone at the table while others go for food so that the eager table bussers do not remove food or drink before you have a chance to enjoy them. We chose the NCL's Free at Sea Options of Free Unlimited Open Bar and Free Wifi. The Open Bar option was very convenient. The Wifi was spotty. I utilized my Verizon service on ports. All of the free entertainment we viewed was very enjoyable: Jersey Boys, Havana, and the Beatle cover Band. We especially enjoyed the Beatles music. We needed to get to the Cavern at least 30 minutes early to get a seat. They were very popular. Over-all the ship was clean and the crew was excellent, All service was excellent. The Port of Seattle has a baggage check-in service called Port Valet. Midway through the cruise we received information on the criteria used to be able to have our bags picked up the night before disembarkation, check-in with printing of boarding passes and baggage tags was completed and we did not see our bags until our arrival in Tucson, AZ. We checked-in and were pleased that we received our two bags in Tucson on our flight. I was very pleasingly surprised. I highly recommend the Port Valet service if people qualify.

Alaska is beautiful and the staff on the cruise excellent by jennylu7575

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

BOOK dinner options before boarding as they were sold out and you had to beg for seating from the hostesses. kids clubs were fabulous. Pool too cold to swim in. Some of the excursions do not offer any time in ports to walk around and see the pier/ dock or shopping areas Pack a hat and gloves if you are not used to 40degree weather.
