FWIW, I believe the hotel Queen Mary has reopened, so a fun way to get into a shipboard frame of mind ...

Not sure if you’ve already booked the Hilton at LAX but if not I’d recommend staying in San Pedro near the port. When we leave from San Pedro we always stay at the Crowne Plaza however there are other hotels in the area. The Crowne Plaza is less than a mile from the port. Staying near LAX you have to deal with LA traffic on your embarkation day. If staying in San Pedro if need be you can walk to the port LOL

we have stayed there several times and no problems. there's a Hardee's just down the street for a good breakfast or other meal.

neighborhood is sketchy, so no walks outside at night. as long as you stay in the hotel you will be fine.

It’s right next to the airport with all the other hotels. Probably as safe as you are going to find.
