A: I am curious too. My first time using Uber or Lyft and compare both? How do I know which car is It? Is there any ship sponsor ride?

Answered by chong67 on May 7, 2023

A: Compare taxi fares vs rideshare cost. Depending on traffic either of those are good. If taking the cruise line shuttle you might circle the airport 3 or 4 times to fill up making for a long ride if among the first to board.

A: keep in mind that traffic is extremely unpredictable and one jacknifed tractor trailer could add an hour to your trip.

A: I would say take a cab. It’s only about 10 miles and they’ll be able to drop you right off. The port is very simple to navigate.

A: None currently open near the port. Closest long term parking would be out by Newark International Airport, but the $5/day savings (w/ prepaid reservation) is easily eaten away by the surge pricing for Uber.

A: That sounds like a good idea. 🤗

A: I’ve sailed out of Cape Liberty many times and I was able to get photos and recordings of the sunrise and sailing under the bridge every time we came back to the port. Also i usually sail in the summer months if that makes a difference.

A: The ship schedule may say 6am, but past experience with the NJ/NYPA pilots usually has the ship arriving as earlier as it needs to clear the Varrazanos bridge. We be up as early as 4am and found the ship already docked. Even if the tides have the shi... p sailing in at 6am no Sunrise in NJ is prior to 6:30am in NovemberSee More

A: Yes you can

Answered by AlisaG35 on October 4, 2022

A: You can.. but you can't leave your car there the whole time you're away. You would have to leave to go find parking after you watch the ship come in, and then come back to board for your trip. By then you might be late! 😬

A: Yea I thought so lol. Has anyone done this before or would it be too early. I know it says the memorial is open dawn to dusk and I think the Ship arrives at 6a. We sail in Novermber

A: Country Inn And Suites will di that if you stay with them the night before. They'll provide free parking for the week, breakfast on Embarkation Day, and transport back to the hotel to pick up your car too.

Answered by CruiseQueenNH on July 4, 2022

A: I would suggest parking at the port for convenience. May be pricey but worth it on the return. They only other place would be at Newark Airport or downtown Newark area and Uber to Port or park in Kearny or Harrison and Uber to port.

Answered by Fifty5 on July 3, 2022

A: No good ones. Park st the port. Safer, easier, faster.

Answered by mojitomeg on July 2, 2022

A: There are less expensive parking options ~3 miles away with shuttle included (i.e. Parkway Parking.) But the parking at the Port is literally adjacent to the pier facility. It's up to you whether the convenience is worth the extra expense.

Answered by sws1776 on July 3, 2022

A: Only other current long term parking is the offsite lots at Newark Liberty International Airport then Uber/lyft over to the port. For the $9/day potential savings it's not worth the add-on cost of the rideshare with the inconvenience of not having to... your vehicle right at the port when you get back.See More

A: Easiest is the cruise line's own transfer service. Fastest is any rideshare app. Most regulated is any taxi or car service.

Answered by maryred on May 4, 2022

A: There is no public transportation to the cruise port so it has to be cab, Uber or limo service.

Answered by TNTGreen on March 19, 2022

A: I would suggest staying closer. Newark Airport maybe a better choice. New York could be problematic with traffic and tolls.

Answered by Fifty5 on March 17, 2022

A: For Royal and Celebrity Cape Liberty departures it is always better to stay closer to the port if looking to save on both hotel and transport costs, as many Newark (airport) area hotels do provide included or low cost shuttles to the terminal. Any in... the "city" hotels will have to contend with interstate tolls and traffic delays.See More

A: @CathyF7... are you sure about that Uber cost. Farefinder has Uber/Lyft estimated at $76-100 before the tolls from Marriott at Brooklyn Bridge (which I'm pretty sure is on the Manhatten side) out to Bayonne, NJ for Cape Liberty.

Answered by maryred on March 17, 2022

A: Not sure it was the best choice but we are staying in Brooklyn, had the best prices. Will need to Uber for $60ish to port.

Answered by CathyF7 on March 17, 2022

A: When we left from Cape Liberty we got a hotel in Secaucus. This was 2018 so I don't remember the exact drive time but it seems like it was maybe half an hour to port from there.

Answered by aschreiber on May 28, 2022

A: Whenever sailing from either Manhattan or Cape Liberty our preference is to stay in Parsipany which is 45 - 60 minutes from Manhattan or 30 minutes from Cape Liberty. Rooms are a lot cheaper.
