As soon as the ship has a 0 passenger count from the previous sailing, it usually gets clearance by the Coast Gard for passengers to board. This happens sometime around 10:00 am. On the app check-in, you can choose a slot that is most convenient for you if it's available.

I’m guessing you may be new to cruising. When you check in, 30 days prior to sailing, you’ll pick a boarding time. That’s when you will board, no earlier.

no later than 2 hours before departure most likely.

You will get your cruise terminal check in time, not your boarding time, when you do your on line check in. Also, if you are within 2 hours of the ship's scheduled departure time, you can't check in your bags with a porter. You'll have to drag your luggage on the ship / to your cabin yourself. My experience is 10:00 am is when they begin the earliest check in at the terminal. Good luck and have a great cruise!
