The first night on the ship was great. We ate in the American Icon dining room, while the service was a bit slow at first, our waiter Marlon did a fine job. The food was very good. I had the pork loin roast, a salad with a huge mozzarella ball, arugula, grape tomatoes and a nice basaltic vinaigrette dressing, I finished dinner with a cup of coffee and the Grand Marnier Soufflé. Very good for a start of the cruise. The rest of the evening was spent pub crawling the various bars, there is a good variety of live music at the bars that there is something for everyone. My favorite was sitting in the Promenade people watching. I did hit the casino, which is huge! I didn’t win any money but had a good time nonetheless. The ship does not seem overcrowded. Note: If you purchase a dining package, the pick a restaurant for the first night. We changed up our reservation after noticing the reservation on the personalized calendar accessible on TV in our cabin. Also, you can check the RC App if you have it loaded on your smartphone or tablet. There was a letter waiting for us when we got back to the room after dinner telling us of our reservation. Which would have ended up costing us a missed reservation if we hadn’t check our reservations earlier. So check your reservations! The only negative is the lack of coordination, somethings a bit disorganized - which is surprising - but I’m on vacation and trying not it let it bug me... too much. :)

Very fast get on ship process and more importantly... very strong WiFi to keep you connected to family before pulling off. People are very friendly and process is smooth sailing.

We had time to fill until our flight left so we did the Everglades tour and the Flamingo park. It was a good excursion.

We stayed at the Springhill Suites by Marriott the night before. It was a little hectic when we’re leaving the hotel because everyone was waiting for shuttles. Luckily we had our own vehicle that we just parked at the port. Getting through customs was pretty easy and we didn’t have to wait too long to get on the ship.

We explored Hollywood beach on our last day in Fort Lauderdale and it was a really nice beach. A lot less chaotic than some other beaches in Florida. You can rent chairs and umbrellas and explore the Broadwalk. It was a wonderful way to end our vacation.
