Unfortunately we arrived on New Year’s Day and everything was shut. We didn’t get to see it at it’s best.

Looking back at my memories. I can highly recommend going out to one of the beautiful islands nearby. I had 2 great days at Signal island & amedee island on 2 different cruises

breathtakingly beautiful, but beware the waves if you go to an island on a private tour--they can be pretty tough. LOVED snorkeling around and swimming with the giant sea turtles!

Walked around a little. Disappointed. Walked back on the ship early. I'd recommend shining this one and having this ship to yourself for a while instead of wasting time here.

We had never been to Noumea before so we’re looking forward to this our final stop on this cruise. We had visited other parts of New Caledonia but never the capital. Again, if you read my reviews, we like to walk so off we went all over the city. Downtown, Uptown, Chinatown and Place des Cocotiers or Coconut Square. The city has s9me interesting and beautiful French colonial buildings but unfortunately is run down a little dirty and covered in graffiti. Some of the smells emanating from the storm water was reminiscent of Phuket so not always pleasant. I am sure the rest of the island would be beautiful and the excursions probably great but I can’t comment as we just walked the city. We had lunch at a restaurant around the lagoon waterfront away from the terminal and really enjoyed that. I can vouch for the local beer “No. 1” of which I partook during lunch 😁 Not the highlight I thought it would be but there is a vibrancy evidenced by the developments under way and to be fair we were there on a Monday which is like a Sunday everywhere else, so bad planning by the cruise line.
