Stay on the ship. Port is actually a container terminal. You are taken to another location where you can do the Hop on Hop off bus for $25 through the ship or $10 with local tourist operator, goes to same places. We will be staying on ship next cruise.

Alot of people hated this place but personally enjoyed it, I recommend the hop on hop off bus tours. It was fascinating to see a city like this close to australia and to see their culture. There was stories all over the place to be told but people are too busy focusing on clear water and white sand. I went to the aquarium and saw cool fish and a big shark jaw bone, a school came in with a white French teacher and native caledonian kids it made me sad to see the French teaching them this new language and not letting them speak their original native language. The day I left noumea their was a vote for independence and the natives lost by just 4 percent. I wish for the native caledonian culture to live long.

Terrible, if only celebrity had advised us nothing was open except the public beach. Highway robbery charging $15,00 usd for a bus ride where it is a hop on hop off and nothing is open! Yes it was Easter Sunday, but we should have been advised the bear essentials were open. Bus company and commission for celebrity cost passengers approx $43000 Usd where honesty would have been appreciated.
