Been there, done that. Papeete is a city. It's colorful, but not exciting. The addition of traffic lights to make street crossing safe is a definite improvement!

Nice city walks, foreshore parks and gardens. Great market for local food and pastries.

Wished we'd skipped this port and spent two days in Bora Bora. Or a day in Moorea .

This was the last tour we took to visit. Our first stop was to visit the former home (now a museum) of James Norman Hall. This man did a lot more than just write a book called Mutiny on the bounty. It was a very informative tour that showed all the splendor, waterfalls shoreline that only Papeete, Tahiti can display.

Nice people. Hot and very humid. Bloody expensive because everything is imported. Sunset on a black sand beach with my wife was worth the trip.

Our excursion was dissappointing. Booked a "sail along the coast". Motored about 2 miles, snorkeled in an area just off the airport. Nott much to see in the water, snorkel equipment was terrible, didnt see much of Tahiti. The area near the ship had a beautiful park and nice bars and restaurants.
