Milford Sound is not technically a port. It is however a spectacular site to view from onboard.

The main reason I took this cruise was to go to Milford sound, twice now, and missed it both times. Maybe they shoud schedule one more day sailing.

Amazing views of all of the sounds. According to the cruise director, we had the best weather of any of the previous times they had traveled here. We had an incident with a passenger needing immediate medical transport. Luckily the local airstrip was within tender distance, so we watched as the person was taken ashore and flown onto the hospital - probably in Dunedin. I hope they did well.

After cruising through the earlier sounds, we went to the end of Milford and did a 360 degree turn. There was a lot of aircraft activity, put on for show I believe. Great weather, warm(ish) and clear of rain.

Not a port...

This site was the end point to a 5 or 6-day shore excursion offered by the cruise line, but only a handful of passengers took it. We enjoyed the close proximity of the fjord.
