Took a ferry to Magallena Island to see the penguins. Ferry didn't look like much but it was fine - a smooth ride and we disembarked to the shore on a ramp that called to mind the allied invasion of Normandy (but without people shooting at you). They provided a decent "box lunch" in a reusable cloth bag (backpack) that became a souvenir. Lots of penguins as well as many many seagulls and some cormorants. Pretty lighthouse at the top of a hill on the island.

Took Princess' excursion to the Patagonia Estancia which wrapped up with a "city drive." After a long, enjoyable ride into the Chilean countryside ending with a memorable ferryboat ride to the ranch, we received lunch and saw various demonstrations of farm life and machinery. On the way back to our ship, we visited the famed statue of Magellan. I'll leave up to you whether it makes sense to kiss the Indian's foot to guarantee your return to Punts Arenas.

Found this city to be very easy to walk and sightsee. Two places of interest and worth visiting and spending some time are: (1) The Palacio/Mansion Sara Braun and (2) Cemetery Municipal (nine blocks north of Plaza Munoz Gamero at Avenida Buines 949. Unbelievable cemetery.
