Nice city. We did a private bird watching tour not affiliated with the cruise and thoroughly enjoyed it. Isabel Gomez Cordova of https://alikantochile.cl/en/home/ took great care of us. We saw a number of birds, visited a goat farm owned by locals, and had a wonderful lunch break by the ocean. We got to see many things off the beaten path. Great experience.

Town itself isn't anything spectacular. Would have liked to visit some of the observatories in the surrounding hills but that wasn't an option. We visited a winery...which was a winery. Grapes, barrels. Nice location, but once you've seen one, they're all similar.

Had fun walking to the VIVO mall and going to the top floor for photo op. Then stopped at McDonalds and worker helped me login to WIFI. Friendly folks.

Loved Chile -- there is a large shopping mall, farmers market and supermarket on a 10-15 minute walk from the port gate. Was safe and offered an interesting view of local culture. Also the fish market (multiple stalls) next to the port was fascinating.

Many earthquakes and sunamis. The hills were scarred. Took a tour to a winery. Enjoyed the tour and the wines. Beautiful wine country.
