12 hours excursion ... way to long!

Very pretty. Excursion transfers take place here by tender. A little bumpy getting in. Not a problem for us, but some folks with mobility issues had problems.

Going through the locks took about 2 hours each way. We did not leave the ship.

Yes. A disaster. Went on a small boat to view the monkeys. Saw 4 monkeys and got soaked for the privilege. The boat tarp roof leaked and no rain coats were offered. Had to sit sopping on a bus for over an hour on the way back to the ship in Colon. Not pleasant!

Did the canal by ferry. Then a bus to Colon to meet back up with ship.

Cruising through the canal was very interesting. We specifically enjoyed the commentary from the "experts".
