We did an excursion to Kretinga that included a tour of a monastery and stops at a local museum and shops. Following the tour we did a walking tour of Klaipeda’s old town and had lunch at a local Lithuanian restaurant. We had their popular meat stuffed potato dumplings that were so goood.

Walked off the boat to a tour window van-bus. 15€ each for a 45 minute tour. At the end we walked back to the city for a local lunch then back to the boat.

Ship excursion to Palanga & Amber Museum. Would have enjoyed the sites better with smaller group. Enjoyed learning about amber. Palanga is a very touristy area and we only had 20 minutes free time to explore. It was crowded with holiday-makers and not much fun. Enjoyed the Klaipeda walking tour part of the excursion even though the town was crowded because of the festival. Tour included stop for local beer. Bought more amber jewelry and linen dress. Tried starchy potatoes filled with sausage and local cheesy bread for lunch.

First time for this ship and for us, nice and cheap, Amber shops (yes we did spent some money) and a nice chocolate shop (they didn't last very long). We used the shuttle to get in, (it was raining) and found the tourist information (just by the drop off point) and the roads and pavements cobbled, which when wet, are not easy to navigate. A good selection of shops with a local market in the square which if you wanted any cheap amber, you could get, however never really sure if it is the real thing. We had a band and some cannons on our way out.

We had low expectations for this port, but it turned out to be a lot more that people had described. We opted for a tour of the Spit, so we hiked there and llistened to tales of witches. It was fun, and nice to walk for a bit on land. Otherwise, the main town doesn't offer as much as other places, unless you are happy to shop, drink beer and ieat local food. This is not a usual port of call, I understand, rather one that replaced Oslo, Norway, which we would have like to have visited.

We didn’t have an excursion here, it’s a cute nice walkable little town. We stopped at a cafe and did shopping.
