This was the city I was most excited about visiting and unfortunately was the most disappointing. We went on a Colonial Excursion and our tour guide was not good, as he was very disinterested in talking about the city and walked way too fast and could have lost some of the guests if we did not look out for each other. We took another excursion to the Mekong Delta and that was outstanding. Our tour guides were Minh and Kim and they were incredible. Tip - with Azamara being a smaller ship, it is able to dock right at the main pier in Ho Chi Minh City, whereas the larger ships cannot navigate the river to get to the city. Just a helpful tip for those thinking they might get to the city on a larger ocean liner.

Shuttle bus into market no longer free. They charged us $15 AUD from the ship into Bai tri market. The markets were amazing, really enjoyed them. Seek out Coffee house for excellent coffee and cafe vibe.

An interesting place but felt unsafe in the markets. Motorbikes coming so close but glad to have seen it Would much prefer visit to the countryside rather than the hustle & bustle of this city

Amazing city with a lot of recent history to be explored. We did our own thing here using the shuttle service from the port. There is absolutely nothing to see or do at the port so you must to a trip or take the shuttle (not free!) to Ho Chi Minh. Try a Vietnamese coffee but be aware it is strong!

Visited Saigon on excursion, again not enough time in each place and another market we didn’t enjoy. Independence Palace interesting but needed more time there.

We actually spent 1 day in Nha Trang before the second night here. Too much to see in one day - and I would've preferred to have seen more of the War Remnants museum than yet another chinese market on the ship-excursion. A long drive from the port.

My second cruise visit to Saigon (HCMC). Smaller ship was supposed to dock in central city, but river navigation issues forced us to use port where larger ships dock, a 90-minute drive from the city (the bus ride provides fascinating views of different rural and suburban areas). On the first day I enjoyed full-day excursion to country towns outside Saigon and a river cruise to the Mekong Delta. On the second day Oceania provided shuttle bus service to central Saigon (fee required), which allowed me five hours to explore the city on my own—my idea of a perfect touring day.

Not our cup of tea but still a very enjoyable tour and interesting unfortunately too rushed at trying to see everything! Water puppet show was a must do .
