8 hour excursion with armed guards and an ambulance escort. This was the first time the ship had stopped here. City infrastructure has to change before they come back. We would go down a road and take out the electric wires as the bus was too tall.

Take a ship tour. Without one we wouldn’t have been allowed off the ship due to port security rules. We were happy to have a police escort for our tour.

Problem getting off ship, many didn’t get out. We took an independent drive around the city. Nothing spectacular. Found good free WiFi in Novotel.

Museum of minimal interest. Modern cathedral was beautiful. Outside of town many shantytowns.

Horrible port. Dirt and poverty. Big problem with shuttles here.

There are several ports. The port we docked was terrible. It took more than 30 mins to get out of the port by port shuttle. It was very difficult to arrange a private tour due to uncertainty of port to use. We took a private shore excursion to Grand Bassam and it was good.

Again, interesting from a historical perspective but not really a lot to see or do.
